can't help thinking about how Gavin Newsom palled around with actual white supremacists and said that he agreed with their transphobic views, but the Democratic Party is crucifying anyone who ever said Hasan Piker's name without enough negativity in their tone

yelling “wake up sheeple!! they’re coming for the race/IQ guys!” to a room vacated months since by academics fired for teaching about gender or quoting Charlie Kirk’s less flattering lines

telling that so much corporate and corruption malfeasance goes uncovered every day in the U.S. but a columnist not being able to punch down against a tiny subset of marginalized people at high risk of daily violence was worth a feature at the new york times dot com

I've never seen such an effort to censor a document as I have the Amnesty International report on gender critical groups because of JK Rowling. They removed the report from the Wayback Machine and now I got a DMCA strike on my Google Drive for having it. It was deleted and removed from my account.

A screenshot of an email viewed in dark mode with the subject line "Google DMCA Violation." The email from Google informs the recipient that they have received a notification under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) that some of their materials allegedly infringe on copyrights. It explains the removal process, mentions that notice details will be posted on Lumen, warns against repeated violations, and lists one affected Google Drive URL at the bottomA nearly identical mobile browser screenshot of the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. It shows a search for the same Amnesty International UK resources URL, resulting in the same message: "This URL has been excluded from the Wayback Machine."A mobile browser screenshot of the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. NEW: Last week, HHS released a new report alleging that gender-affirming care is a hotbed of fraud by predatory doctors. @billiejsweeney.bsky.social and I dug into it and found numerous problems. This piece was done in partnership between @accountabilityji.bsky.social and @assignedmedia.org.

“As soon as you politicize any sort of healthcare it's a really slippery slope.”

"Imagine having to choose between not driving and outing yourself as trans every time you enter a club, buy an alcoholic beverage, go to a building where security personnel check ID (an office building, your kid’s school), vote, rent a car, check into a hotel or are stopped for a traffic violation."

M. Gessen has written a truly extraordinary piece about the "soft fascism" faced by transgender people in America, and by trans people in Kansas particularly. Beautifully written and reported, deeply humane. I really hope you'll read it. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/13/o...

Trans men used the bathroom they were required to use in Kansas under their new incredibly severe statewide bathroom ban. As a result, the police were called on them. They call themselves the Kansas Compliance Crew. Subscribe to support our journalism.

“As a trans man, I have the immense privilege of blending in. But these laws force me to choose between safety and obeying the law.”

Yeah so NYT asked me ~2 yrs ago to write an op-ed about how the Colorado is running dry, & what we should do to keep this exact thing from happening. I said "There's only one real answer. Bill farmers by how much water they use. Duh." NYT editorial staff freaked tf out & cancelled the piece.

saw an article today about an az politician saying how great it was that we're now in emergency drought conditions because the farmers get automatic bailouts and I feel like way more Professional Rural Understanders just breeze by sentences like that. www.paysonroundup.com/news/arizona...

I strongly disagree with using violence, for a number of reasons, but if I did believe in violence I wouldn't find this essay convincing. Hancox-Li argues that we should judge actions on their effectiveness, and agrees left-wing violence can be effective, naming Mangione and Robinson as examples.

"Their actions ensured that they struggled to achieve sympathetic media coverage outside of a few left-wing outlets, struggled to attract material or legal support (the ACLU, for instance, refused to touch the case), and failed to achieve positive virality in the larger culture."
