10.08.2026 Protests broke out outside NewYork-Presbyterian Allen Hospital where 28-year-old Oscar Belgal was treated after being shot by an ICE agent in Marble Hill. The NYPD took 5 protesters into custody on charges including obstructing governmental administration. #AbolishICE

They’re live-streaming the execution of the person they think they can get away with doing that to first. It’s a test. If they can do that, they’ll expand the margins of permission.

One last point: I don’t think “this country has committed genocide” implies “this country shouldn’t exist.” (Speaking as an American who lives in what was once Yakama land.) It certainly doesn’t imply “…therefore we get to do a genocide against them”.

There is a reassuring fantasy among those who have critiques of unfettered left-wing governance that right agrees with these critiques and will temper the left when in power. But the contemporary right isnt that, it's an apocalyptic doomsday cult that lives in an alternate reality.

The biggest democratic/liberal mistake of the last 50+ years has been operating like the right has anything to offer America. It was the fundamental problem with Bill Clinton to Obama and everyone in between

“We actively recruited cranks, very racist wingnuts and roaring fascists to hurl ludicrous accusations at a bunch of nice nurses, teachers and social workers, because we are utterly malicious, repugnant people” is a really embarrassing thing to admit, so nobody will ever admit it. Nonetheless.

The mind that boggles at this phenomenon—the inevitable result of putting violent xenophobic assholes in power and letting them run amok—is probably reeling at all sorts of basic cause and effect situations.

Visitors to the US are on track to drop by almost two million year-on-year. “We’re the only major country in the world losing visitation,” the head of the US Travel Association said. “It’s mind-boggling.” www.semafor.com/article/09/2...
