Two weeks ago I was driving to a dr appt when I received a text. It was truncated in such a way that all it read prior to opening was URGENT!!! All caps. I thought something happened someone I love! My heart was racing by the time I opened the text at a red light. It was a dem fundraising text.

Some people are getting 10-20 texts a DAY. One guy said he basically can't use his text app anymore, it's too inundated with spammy fundraising requests. Several people said they've blocked numbers asking for donations, only to get the exact same message from other numbers.

But the accounts focus most heavily on military families. According to sources, local commanders had evacuation plans in place after the June 2025 attacks, with planes waiting at the Bahrain airport. Families say the Pentagon refused to allow the evacuation, and that they were told it would “make the situation look bad at home.” Then the airport was struck and closed.

Families were left to find their own way out. Some, according to sources, paid tens of thousands of dollars to get their families to safety, leaving behind pets, furniture, and spouses they didn’t know if they would see again.

Sources also say some senior leaders were evacuated under what was presented as a training exercise, and that some were able to warn their own families. Other families were left behind for more than a week as Bahrain came under attack. During the initial wave, some hid in a mall parking garage for hours, protected in part by other U.S. service members and Bahraini forces. Sources say some of the children were so traumatized they couldn’t eat for days.

The Knicks assistants were told they would receive championship rings eventually, but many longtime employees at Madison Square Garden, including some who work in the Knicks' business operations, will not receive rings at all, team sources told The Athletic. Typically, most employees for NBA teams receive rings, even if they are not as fancy and expensive as the ones the players receive.
Those MSG employees got their hopes up at the end of September when the Knicks sent an email to a long list of employees, which gave recipients a first glimpse at their would-be championship rings. Atop the email, a copy of which The Athletic has obtained, was a graphic of two differently styled rings.
"Congratulations, your Employee Championship Ring is here," the email read.

"(Employee name), this one is on the house. MSG is issuing a complimentary employee championship ring. The same jeweler, the same craftsmanship, personalized with your name. No cost to you.
"There are two designs to choose from:
Championship Gold and Garden Classic.
Reserve the one you want below."
But the email was a fake-out, a phishing test Madison Square Garden sent to see if those employees would click, multiple team sources said.
Those who did click the link at the bottom of the message did not get to choose any jewelry; instead, they were forced to attend a mandatory cybersecurity class to help satisfy some of Dolan's growing cybersecurity concerns, those team sources said.
