If I had to compare Jimmy Cricket and Rod Liddle I would say my mum's heard of Jimmy Cricket. It's easy to forget outside the internet Spectator columnists and former Today producers are not famous.

Any think tank papers of this sort is about making a sale of policy to an audience whose support it needs. Yet invariably the tone and content of UK stuff on the EU is focused on getting buyers in London when in reality to get anywhere these policies need buyers in Brussels and EU state capitals

This thread from the Spanish Foreign Office is really useful for anyone faced with mis/disinformation about the situation in Ceuta. There is one hell of a lot of that about at the moment!! Please use it to counteract ignorant claims, wherever they're from. It's available in French and Spanish too.

1/5 🧵 Entering Spain irregularly through Ceuta or Melilla does not grant any right to remain in the country, travel to mainland Spain, or move freely within Europe. It also poses a grave risk to life. No court ruling has changed this. 🔗 www.exteriores.gob.es/en/Comunicac...

The Challenger disaster was a horrible tragedy, but I remember it was so shocking because catastrophe under NASA was so rare. This never-ending procession of privatised space rockets exploding every other week is making it mundane. Privatisation is shit.

I fired up Instagram to find out what time some live music starts in town later on. My usually quite barren feed has suggested for me: Marine Le Pen Marco Rubio Vox Chris Phelp Visigrad 24 Farage Braverman Concerned Spanish fathers Dozens of accounts spouting anti-Sanchez BS /1

As I say, the position looks relatively clear now. I and many other Europeans want the UK to turn towards us. That can’t happen without voting for actual pro-European parties. At the very least voters need to start cultivating pro-European options to have the option to move away from Labour Ends

As they can’t admit climate change has anything to do with it, the far right in Spain are blaming supposed laws prohibiting rough grazing and the “cleaning“ of forests and mountains. In this narrative, the problem is that there is too much fuel available for fires. 🧵
