Everything is terrifying and awful, except for my cat. From my apartment she might see a crow or a squirrel, but otherwise she doesn’t have much of a view. But where we’re visiting some fledgling barn swallows are practicing banking and swooping right where she can watch:

Seems like Dundon always wanted to move so it’s just cynical and corrupt.
After enjoying fifty years of devoted fandom and support I find it downright shameful for a pro sports team to send their lobbyist to city hall and just flatly say into the mic that the city sucks, in an effort to shake ‘em down for hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars with zero accountability
Because the loudest voices in the city want you to forget this, I just want to say Portland is great. There are so many people who love this city so much and show up every day to make it more welcoming and more just. It’s a beautiful place full of people who give a shit.
It *could* be a total coincidence that city council president Dunphy is sharing this story about his work with Oregon constituents who had sub-prime loans while Tom Dundon--who made much of his fortune on sub-prime loans--is trying to wrest dollars from the public coffers. Or *not*. You decide.
In 2011, right after graduating college, I was hired by US Senator Merkley to assist his constituent services team. Specifically, I was hired to process all the privacy release statements from the thousands of homeowners facing a foreclosure on their subprime mortgages. 1/🧵

More train less highway! I went to Europe as a nanny and I always remember how EASY IT WAS TO GET AROUND. Fun, too!
Getting from Portland to Vancouver right now is fastest by train. We should make more train and less highway!
My mom grew a lot of the vegetables I ate growing up. As a young adult I thought I didn’t like vegetables. Later I realized what I didn’t like was store vegetables that didn’t get to ripen properly. Backyard tomatoes spoiled me for the store ones!
Musk saying "backyard tomatoes aren't as good as ones you get from a store" like it's just a commonly known fact is just…like. I didn't know tomatoes *could be genuinely good* until I had a fresh backyard tomato. The man is so disconnected from reality at even just a basic fundamental level.
AKWAB (All mayors Keith Wilsons Are Bastards)
Just want to remind everyone that the Mayor cut 200 critical jobs which will result in significant service cuts at a time when Portlanders need govt the most, meanwhile he kept 70 vacancies in the police bureau even though per PPB's own staffing report they will NOT fill most of those positions. 🙃
District 2 Portland City Councilors are hosting a Moda Center Town Hall at the Alberta Abbey on Saturday, July 25 from 11:30 am to 1 pm. RSVP: forms.cloud.microsoft/pages/respon...
@pnwpolicyangel.bsky.social demonstrates once again why the progressives on council are the real collaborators and fiscally responsible reps Portland deserves. We need to expand the progressive table to never again allow the mayor to put his thumb on the scale. #breakthedeadlock #voteevenstar4d4
Portland: everyone who is seriously thinking of using our CLEAN ENERGY FUND to bribe our basketball team to not leave town needs to know that our transit agency is on track to cut nearly 1/3 of its service from what it was in 2025. Which is the greater crisis?
I get FDA recall alerts. Got an email last night saying the test was a false ➕. Then I got an email this am saying that the lettuce DID have the “potential to be contaminated”. Was the am email scheduled prior the the false ➕ email? Are there non captured factions in the FDA? Curious!
This is what I have verified about Taylor Farms and this administration: 1. Bruce Taylor met with Trump on 07/16/26. 3. The FDA reversed its previous warning about Taylor Farms on 07/19/26. 4. Taylor Farms gave $1 million to Trump's PAC. I don't know when, but that's what got Taylor the meeting.

Petition to make this the official #bsky flower. New blooms everyday and the bees like it. #bluesky
Perfect sky blue. This is salvia uliginosa, bog sage, which is both beautiful + resilient to our changing climate (wetter winters, hotter, drier summers). Each individual floret lasts only a day, replaced the next morning by new ones. The bumblebees seem to like to visit in evening before they fall.

However, there is an important distinction: Our Ordinance restores 48 positions while theirs saves 30, leaving more of the mayor’s proposed cuts in place. It also saves more key jobs in Parks, honoring the voter-approved Parks Levy, and protects more essential positions.
They are going to try what they try. But they are not smart people, nor are they coordinated, and a real plan would be five years in the making. Remember what you're dealing with.
Gentle reminder below. Apocalyptizing/end of the world predicting comes from Christian cultural influences and is not normal, healthy, productive, or accurate. It’s an especially tricky form of complying in advance.
I want to get ahead of this speech tomorrow. You are going to hear a lot of cries of the sky falling. Remember: the President of the United States does not control elections. States and localities do, and even if you say "he has the military," there aren't enough in the 48 states to make a dent.
It is kinda infuriating the cops are simultaneously attempting to defang the police accountability measures supported by over 80% of the electorate while also attempting to make a cash grab and steal a quarter of the city’s clean energy fund. Audacious shit tbh
As the envelope sealer, you should be stoked about the envelope sealing machine! It’s slower than you and does it wrong 30% of the time so you have to keep watch. Not using it will make us feel bad, and we’re developing a new religion around the idea of it having a mind. So it will feel bad as well.
