bring back being able to trust experts!!!! I do not want to "do my own research" on every single thing I interact with over the course of a regular Tuesday! I want smart people with expertise and experience and communications skills back in all the places where they belong!!!!!!
We tried "everyone is entitled to an opinion" for three straight decades and all we have to show for it is four thousand cases of measles and a death cult running the government. It's time for people who don't know what they're talking about to shut the fuck up.
Friends in CA, if you haven't voted yet, vote "Yes" on 40. And vote "No" on 41 & 42. Also, if you need a voter guide, check out Knock LA: knock-la.com/knock-la-los...

All he desires is knowledge. I can get on board with that. His methods are a bit suspect, however.

California’s proposed billionaire tax was polling at 52% approval back in May. Tech oligarchs have spent at least $148 million to fight it. Now it polls at 42%.
Undecided voters were just waiting to hear about the triumphal arc/military complex. A few were wavering about whether it would have tremendous drone capability, or merely adequate drone capability. And what working family doesn't want snipers having clear shots at Arlington National Cemetery?
Trump: "We're going for final approval of the triumphal arch/military complex ... it's going to have tremendous drone capability. I would say sniper or shooter capability"

Michigan’s Senate race could determine whether Democrats retake the majority—and indicate exactly what kind of Democrats voters are looking for, @russellberman.bsky.social reports:
BREAKING: Judge Boasberg is the latest to enjoin DOJ from demanding that California segregate ballots from purported noncitizens. The data is flawed and the demand violates the Elections Clause of the constitution, he says. ecf.dcd.uscourts.gov/cgi-bin/show...
AUSA: improperly made himself a fact witness, lied in doing so, and then corrected the record because of the lie. bold_strategy_cotton.gif
Lawyer for the plaintiffs just visibly sighed as the AUSA discussed how he personally was treated to verify his identity when voting. Also: After claiming he didn't need to show his ID the last time, he then corrected the record and says he voted by mail in this election. This is wild.
I think it might be physically impossible to wedge more hedge words in a single sentence.
This is honestly one of the funniest, saddest legal sentences I've ever read.
They literally don’t believe in the free market principles they espouse. It’s just propaganda. The truth is they just want to be the only ones allowed to make all the money & they don’t want the consumer to have any choice.
A lot of good & smart people say they subscribe to capitalism & then they start describing checks on it or adding qualifiers like ‘well-regulated’, which are all things, any limitation at all, that successful capitalists aim to destroy. They don’t mind if their competitors are bound by them though.
the most infuriating thing the Times newsroom does is that they respond to conservative criticism by bending over backwards to address the unfairness and they respond to progressive criticism by lecturing us about how we don’t understand their high minded objectivity
i finally got to read this and wow is it a steaming pile of crap. there is one constant in everything the NYT does and it’s this attitude of “we are smarter than you and you are simply too stupid to understand our choices.”
