Huh, there are at least five bands named after Killdozer, but only one of them was formed after that famous Colorado rampage. What was the namesake for the rest of them?

That thing where you've been out of school long enough that things you re-remember can blow your mind again. Like, my Y-chromosome came from my father, but the genes on it came from my grandfather AND grandmother 🤯 Makes me want to go back.

Each generation inherits a little less nature and somehow learns to call it normal. Our grandparents remember rivers teeming with fish. Our parents remember trees filled with birds. Today, children grow up amidst concrete, plastic, smoke, heat, and silence.

The kind of weird things you can find in low low tides- about 50 pounds of copper on a sandbar in Shilshole bay. Probably from a boiler that corroded away years ago. Hauling it out through Discovery Pk on a busy day was a trip. Almost hope SPR got calls.

YIMBYs when a city cites fire access to stop density: "What!? Why are American fire trucks so large? Why are fire chiefs such backwards, exclusionary-zoning supporting fascists?!" YIMBYs when a city takes parking in the name of fire safety: "Yes! Do that!" (Group attribution bias is dumb+boring)

NIMBYs when a city tries to install a bike lane: "You can't do that! What about emergency response?!?!?" NIMBYs when a city tries to take parking to improve emergency response: "You can't do that!"

A worker died at an Amazon warehouse in Oregon last week. For more than an hour, workers were instructed to continue working as the man lay dead. One worker wanted to help, but a manager told them to “Just turn around and not look. Let’s get back to work," according to @thewesternedge.bsky.social.

Afraid of what, exactly? Go get a professional arborist to agree you've got a hazard and go pull a permit you cowards. Seattle has no rigorous tree rules which actually protect anything, but this one has been the same since forever.

It’s worth noting that the rigorous Tree Ordinance will lead to more damage as builders, arborists and homeowners are too afraid of the robust process to remove trees which will lead to more damaged ones falling down.

County officials have ordered “GO NOW” evacuations for the entire 100-year floodplain of the Skagit River valley — the county’s main population center.

Today in Portland, a fed shooting pepper balls from the roof of the ICE facility was so eager to aim for people’s heads, that after shooting one photographer in the head and another in the upper arm, they accidentally shot a DHS agent in the head. This photo shows the moment of impact;

Riot cops standing a street with less-lethal weapons, and one in a gas mask has a cloud of pepper dust around his helmet.
