I mentioned this somewhere, but a good breakdown on a director is if they embrace AI. Ones embracing AI like Roth, Lucas, Cameron, and Jackson see themselves as auteurs, the visionaries who make things happen, and everyone works FOR them, so AI is great because that means less people in the way.
