“He has so many good attributes. Victor is a special talent.” A piece on Victor Ozhianvuna, the 17-year-old signed for a League of Ireland transfer record - and who is carrying the flag for #AFC's longstanding Irish connection. @theathleticfc.bsky.social 🔴⚪️🇮🇪⬇️ www.nytimes.com/athletic/748...

I know he’s two years older but getting Bruno G for £75m flat when Tonali was £90m+ feels like a negotiation W for Arsenal. Now it’s all about what they win while he’s here, because this is a new high water mark for this age + position combo

UEFA has given FIFA President Gianni Infantino an ultimatum: resign or face a no-confidence vote, The Telegraph reports . It says all 55 members would back it. Only 43 votes are needed.

We beat Real Madrid 5-1 on aggregate in the QF of the CL in 2025, in case anyone has forgotten. Sometimes trajectory can turn your head, and ours is much more genuine than any of the spoofers and financial dopers in the Premier League.

Well, the final whistle on Chelsea FC's financial cheating under Abramovich seems to have blown. The Guardian and our reporting partners practically put it on a plate for the FA and Premier League. They blazed it over the bar. www.theguardian.com/football/202...

Chelsea fined £10m and given suspended transfer ban by FA over agent breaches

The club escaped a suspended six-point deduction for the infringements after appealing against the original punishment.

As people have said £10m is basically one year of wages for Reece James. The same club has spent over £100m three times in the past 5 years but sure let's not actually punish them in any meaningful way for being proven to be cheats. Of course Forest and Everton were docked points 🙄

Can't be the first to say this, but (and yay UEFA - brilliant) this works equally well if you swap out "football" for maybe "water" or "a stable climate". Look at me being the revolutionary socialist. "No one has the moral authority to sell what they merely hold in trust for the next generation."

The moment external investors acquire ownership interests in
FIFA competitions, football changes forever. Commercial return becomes a permanent obligation. Investor expectations become a daily pressure. From that moment onwards, every decision on the international calendar, every decision on competition formats and every decision shaping the future of football is no longer driven by what best serves the game, but by what best serves shareholders.
This model has no place in world football. Football's future cannot be dictated by the expectations of those whose first duty is to maximise financial return. Nor can the interests of national associations, leagues, clubs, players and supporters become subordinate to investor returns. Football cannot mortgage its future for financial gain.
Europe's position is clear. We will never lend this model our legitimacy. No one has the moral authority to sell what they merely hold in trust for the next generation.

PAHAHAHAHAHAHA 🤣 Rational financial management. Give us a break. 🙄 Literally ruined the transfer market for everyone FOR YEARS by pulling up at Barca and emptying a dump truck of money on their doorstep… 💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰 Take a running jump with your whining, we all know what you are. 🖕🏼

🚨 Paris Saint-Germain has this evening formally withdrawn its interest in and bids for Yan Diomande. PSG will not break its principles of rational financial management and squad balance. ⚪️🔜 Diomande has decided to join Real Madrid and the move will be completed next week.
