Timezone bump for the last chapter of Please Let Me Wonder. After an eventful day, Ed and Stede finally find some peace. ❤️🏖️ #OFMDReverseBang

Stede’s eyes stretched wide, his hands clutching his knees. This was a new development. It wasn’t the first time Ed leaned his head on Stede, but only against the back of Stede’s hand. On his shoulder, Ed could inhale Stede’s scent or make out the stillness of his breath. It would’ve benefited Stede to take some deep breaths instead, but if he kept like this, maybe Ed wouldn’t hear his heart pounding in his ribs. Holding his breath, however, had some drawbacks, such as making Stede’s head heavy. The only way to relieve it was to tilt to one side, but only towards Ed’s head, where Stede laid his head to rest. Surely, it was only a coincidence, but perhaps even more so, no matter what, Stede would always be drawn to Ed. So he surrendered to it, breathing in the musky, sea-salt fragrance of Ed’s beautiful starlight hair.

With his ear pressed against Ed's crown, Stede could hear him hum, echoing like a seashell. Then, although likely overthinking it, Stede felt Ed smile, as well. In measuring the whole of creation, the time they spent sitting together on the beach was brief. But at that moment, time was just a concept. What existed were the calming sounds of water at their feet, and Ed softly breathing against Stede’s shoulder.

“Thank you for today,” Ed soon murmured. Stede’s lips broke wide, and he hoped Ed could feel him smiling too.

“I did it for you. It was all for you, Ed.”
