The media's takeaway from an El-Sayed win is the same as it would have been from a Stevens win, and the same as it will be if El-Sayed wins the general, or if he loses it: everyone, no matter who they are, needs to take several steps to the right.

For the past month I've dreamt of the same place. It's a bay of black rock and blacker waters. Fat obsidian clouds hang overhead menacingly. There's a huge wall and an unfathombly large door set into it. Each time I hear something behind the door, a whispering, but can't make it out

Trump's soft gelatinous underbelly is his naked desire for approval specifically in the arena of property development and interior design, and any evidence that he's shit at it represents an extinction level threat to his psyche to the extent that he will have the State try to annihilate a bystander

James Talarico on Texas officially banning THC: “Texans aren’t going to stop smoking weed and eating edibles because politicians in Austin say so. We are now telling full-grown adults how to live their lives. This is the nanny state at its worst; this is big government at its worst."

It’s important to understand that when 1.2 million Americans are dying from a disease, any government action is excessive and tyrannical, but if a dozen trans women want to play soccer no government action can go far enough

RIGHT: we're poisoning society to death so it can be replaced with one that exists only to enable our violent fantasies LEFT: we must strengthen society by expanding social services and expelling those who seek to kill it CENTER: so... the right gets what? nothing?? come on. let em kill it a little

If all of those 40k moroccans wanted to and could and did enter the schengen area, this wouldn't matter one bit or be felt at all in a *half a billion* strong european community. This was just a coordinated media attack on spain for that one obvious reason that's irrelevant to migration.

The Ceuta thing is terrifying not because of the actual events but the reaction. Other than a logistical challenge for the local authroties there (I don’t envy them) it’s just not that big of a deal. But people’s brains are completely breaking about migration and fundamentally don’t get it.

“The Fake ‘Invasion’ of Spain: What You Need to Know” 9 things you should know about the so-called ‘crisis’ of Moroccan migrants forcing their way into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta – and the hysterical response from the right in the U.S., UK, and EU.

People who scolded that we need to allow more and more fascist-friendly Republican ideas in order to win do not have the same energy for actual progressives who actually win. Movement to the right during a time of open fascism? Hey gotta have a big tent. Movement to the left? GET OUT OF OUR TENT.
