“The Nerd Reich” is a Best Seller of the Week on @bookshop.org ! It’s a great alternative to Amazon that supports independent book sellers.
Revenge of the Oxford Comma

Serenity. Courage. Wisdom… and Tacos. Feral AF. Don’t set yourself on fire to keep someone else warm.
The Trump Admin has now approved a bank charter for World Liberty Financial, Trump's family-owned crypto scam. The company, the deal, the entire process is corrupt to the core. As I said in February to the Trump official in charge of this: it was only a matter of time.
Walking past a farm, a sign said, "Duck, eggs." I thought, "That's an unnecessary comma," and then it hit me. 🥚
The best part about People magazine’s celebrity rag status is the wide distribution it still has. It’s still in doctor’s waiting rooms and grocery store lines (!). The dots connect. The dots connect
I don’t know why People is breaking so many critical political stories with easy to comprehend headlines lately but kudos to the editorial staff for doing the lord’s work, particularly since their print goes mostly to people over 70. people.com/white-house-...
the fact that john ossoff can kick off a two-day media cycle by saying that the president is uninterested in doing his job and is sleeping through meetings and traveling around with a young blonde, suggests that not enough of these guys are speaking plainly and effectively about these assholes
Hobbs: Trump wants Biggs in office to oversee the 2028 presidential election. And what that means for the country… if he’s governor, Arizona is the first swing state overseen by an election denier.
You likely lose Schumer, not Jeffries.
I am once again reminding people that any attempt to dislodge Hakeem Jeffries as speaker will run into the fact that the Congressional Black Caucus will almost unanimously back him. As long as that's the case, no House Democrat can get to 218.
In July, a bookseller reached out to 404 Media's @emanuelmaiberg.bsky.social, telling him they had a huge order. The seller agreed to put an Apple AirTag we provided inside a rare book to see where it was going and who was buying it. Here's the path it travelled: www.404media.co/we-tracked-a...
In 2025, about a month after the US strikes on Iran, Speaker Mike Johnson met with Israeli PM Netanyahu. Johnson issued a public statement about the meeting. But I just found out more about it...
My attitude towards AI is this quote from The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe: “…take my advice, when you meet anything that is going to be Human and isn’t yet, or used to be Human once and isn’t now, or ought to be Human and isn’t, you keep your eyes on it and feel for your hatchet.” —C.S. Lewis
It’s official: the Nerd Reich podcast is getting banned from YouTube….the week of my book launch! Incredible timing, since I’ll be all over the media next week talking about tech fascism. They can delete my account. They can’t stop my work. Buy the book: www.simonandschuster.com/books/The-Ne...
On May 1, 2003 George W Bush declared ‘Mission Accomplished’ from the flight deck of… USS Abraham Lincoln
Tapper: What is your husband saying about conditions on the ship? Wife of Service Member Aboard USS Lincoln: My husband is appalled at the conditions on this ship. This is not his first deployment. And he is saying that it is the worst deployment that he's ever been on. His shipmates say the same.
Their “enemies” are not just immigrants, but anyone who questions them. It is a complete “us vs them” mentality. They view citizens who question them as “enemy combatants.” This did not exist in the culture until after 9/11. open.substack.com/pub/migranti...
Nunes wine tasting: On the nose, I’m getting sycophant, has-been, and flop sweat; on the palate, strong notes of cowardice, moral rot, and bullshit, with a total lack of structure/spine and no discernible finish.
He sold his soul to Donald Trump. Now he runs a wine bar at the beach. www.sfgate.com/politics/art...
They must be beta testing some of these updates on slightly earlier versions, because I've noticed more than a few while running v47.0.
"Thank you for updating to Woman™ 51.0. This release includes important security updates, several unexpected hardware changes, a completely redesigned relationship with alcohol, and expanded support for saying 'absolutely not' without explaining yourself." buff.ly/31NgFok
I keep thinking about this GLOVE this as a case where people should make a connection between what local police HAVE BEEN doing and what ICE is now doing.
Evidently the guy who sells this thing has been giving them out to rural sheriff's offices for years. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlS9...
When you visit a landfill you feel bad about all the dumb stuff you throw away. When you go to a datacenter, you feel bad about all the dumb stuff you do online.
Looks like Jared Kushner’s brother needed a place to store his Covid money. apnews.com/article/lake...
A blockbuster $12.5B deal as Josh Kushner and Bob Iger buy the Los Angeles Lakers, AP source says
The Los Angeles Lakers are being sold to businessmen Josh Kushner and Bob Iger for a record-breaking price, the second such sale in a year.

So I said to the woman at the deli "I'd like to buy a ham and cheese baguette with pickles" She said "Sorry, we only take cash or card."
It's important we use Woke 2 as a decoy and put a bunch of stuff in it. "We will and must ban HGTV." "Abolish Olympic dressage." "Mandatory colonoscopies at age 25." We run on Woke 5.
a poster's spirit cannot be contained even if you don't post anymore. my boyfriend deleted all of his social media during covid and now he tries to call into the brian lehrer show when he's driving to work. it's like being a dry drunk
This is so great. Paulina Borsook deserves her flowers. One of the best things about the past year has been (accidentally) helping to get her book re-published. Paulina is one of the only tech critics who got it right. Buy her book! Put her on your show! www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
A tech prophet finally gets her second coming
In 2000, Paulina Borsook published a book foretelling the anti-government sentiments of the tech world. Now that it’s too late, people are ready to listen.

Phone: Your storage is full. Me: (looks at 11,235 identical pictures of my cat) No, I need all of these.
I agree, @whstancil.bsky.social. There is a section of the piece devoted to exactly that idea:
The first part is doing the investigations. The second part is making them mean something: if you’re found to have helped assist a corrupt prosecution, your life as you know it should be over. The investigations only matter if they have stakes.
In April, I was kicked off of X. Now, YouTube is threatening to delete the Nerd Reich podcast. Anyone have experience dealing with this kind of thing? It's clearly a coordinated campaign to kill our channel via false complaints, but it appears YouTube will nuke our channel in the next two days.
dude gets pulled over for speeding and tells the cop—fingers tented Elon-style—that he wasn't actually driving, his Tesla was it does not go well youtu.be/kOa9iZmlfnk
The Tesla did it? Driver argues "I wasn't speeding" with cop and it doesn't go well.

Hardly a day goes by without my getting email from someone looking for ways to do good with tech. From computer science students thinking about post-grad careers to seasoned coders with decades of experience, there's an army of hackers looking for a way to turn their expertise into public goods. 1/
