In large part because the GOP organizes and mobilizes to make shit like that an issue. Whereas the DNC acts like a controlled opposition afraid to throw any real punches at their good friends across the aisle.

A real opposition wouldn't ask for cash when ICE is killing people in Minneapolis. A real opposition would use DNC funds to donate to local groups, then encourage individuals to add to their donations, and all the while send a rotating cast of Dems to stand btw Dems and the armed thugs.
