Is this supposed to be bad because you put the red dots? What if put green dots? 🟢 Eliminate the U.S. Senate 🟢 Replace the presidency and the supreme court 🟢 Public ownership of major corporations 🟢 Abolish police and prisons 🟢 Defund the Pentagon 🟢 Prosecute US and Israeli leaders I can do ⭐?

This is ridiculous. During the by-election I heard over and over again about how hard it is to find swimming lessons. Too many kids are falling through the cracks. If parents can't teach their kids how to swim in our public pools, how are they supposed to learn?

Vancouver parents blocked from teaching their kids to swim in public pools

Frustrated parents say enforcement of a vague city policy has prevented them from teaching their own children to swim, even as demand for lessons outstrips supply

"We have condemned what has caused this situation. It starts with Hamas" - Mark Carney France's recognition of Palestine was the subject of the first question. Incredibly, Carney mentioned (I think) Israel only once in his response. Carney -- & Canada -- are absolutely complicit in this genocide.

Yes. 5 years in, I'm surprised by how people out there still don't realize that a respirator mask, such as an N95, protects the wearer from others *as much* as it protects others from the wearer. Don't overthink it; pop one on in public buildings, planes, trains, etc. and avoid respiratory illness.

Went to a few flea markets today. I was the only person masked but two different unmasked people came up and mentioned that they liked my face mask and that it was smart to wear a mask right now with everything going around. Folks, I am begging you to realize you can mask to protect yourselves too.

What she said was that airborne evidence of transmission was a ‘tempest in a teapot’. She should also be judged by what she did, which included going to games at BC Place and making funny maskless faces with young kids in summer 2021. #BCPoli vancouver.citynews.ca/2021/08/20/m...

This morning at 8 am, my child's teacher told me it was already 33 C inside the classroom. Members of the Ontario government have air conditioning in their offices, yet they're not doing basic repairs in Toronto schools, let alone protecting our kids from extreme heat. thelocal.to/ontario-educ...

Province Invests $1.3 Billion in New Schools—Just Not in Toronto | The Local

The Tories will fund 45 school building projects across the province—and not a single one in the TDSB, the biggest board in the province. Critics say the opaque process puts politics over students.

Thanks to @michaelhobbes.bsky.social and Peter Shamshiri for this public service. This book has been widely celebrated by “very serious people“. The problem is that it is scientifically illiterate, and a clear case of motivated reasoning.

Clean water did not make kids sicker. Clean air will not make kids sicker. I can't believe that public health even thought to flog immunity debt to cover their mass-infecting asses, and, even worse, that people fell for this logic-defying statement. Sickness. Is. NOT. Health.

This is extremely worrying both substantively and procedurally. Substantively: it shows ABC will not stand up for social housing. Procedurally: it shows that the City of Vancouver won't defend its own processes, and will cave to well-funded NIMBY pressure. This creates huge uncertainty.

Your immune system isn't a Tamagotchi that dies if you don't play with it. "Immunity debt" is a marketing term to make you blame yourself instead of bad policy. Getting sick constantly isn't normal — it’s a public health failure.
