Amateurs don't know that psychedelic trans music was created by musicians at the Gambrinus pub in Odesa in 1887. The event was witnessed by the young Odesskiy Listok correspondent Zhabotinsky.
Diesen Bullshit in die 40 Grad heiße U-Bahn zu hängen, während man gerade schon wieder neue Züge ohne Klimatisierung bestellt hat..... ohne Worte.
people are pointing out that this is obviously antisemitic, and it is, but one notes that this is sort of the natural endpoint of building your entire political identity around cultural criticism.
I don't know who needs to hear this, but two countries can fight with each other without Israel having anything to do with it, even if Israel's government is mad at one of those countries at the moment. Not everything is about Israel. MOST things are not about Israel!
"sogar über 40 Prozent der Bevölkerung sind Mizrachim. […]

THE AGE OF BRONZE IS OVER THE RETVRN TO COPPER HAS COME
this isnt a comment on the work as a whole but if i had written the line "our age of bronze is collapsing" and it was viewed by millions of people id probably seek death
#realeletzteGeneration
"our age of bronze is collapsing" meanwhile bros are out there wearing straight carbon and/or cast iron. it's collapsed already let it go son
this is not true. there was no conspiracy. it didn't matter whether the streetcars were publicly owned (seattle, detroit) or private (los angeles, atlanta). a thread (because i wrote a whole-ass book on this): 1/?
Is everyone aware of the General Motors streetcar conspiracy? In the mid-20th century, auto and oil interests bought up electric streetcar systems across the US and systematically replaced them with bus routes and paved roads, funneling commuters toward private cars.
That's why I'm on here. But there are a lot of either online or offline spaces in which people carve out their own worlds. Some disastrous, some meh, some interesting in their own way. Just this here would be a boring world. People also have individual agency within the structures the move around.
I find these kinds of platforms useful because they have a lot of colleagues and more politically mobilised people on them that engage with debates and issues I'm interested in. But you need to be realistic about how whole swathes of politics and everyday life aren't happening here.
It requires expertise to be able to say, “I do not know the answer to that question, and that is becauae thus far scholarly consensus is that we do not have the knowledge needed at this time to answer that question.” Sometimes “I don’t know” is a far more rigorous answer than people might think.
It's kind of neat to ask, "If the USSR was so great, why have none of the former vassal states voluntarily re-joined Russia in the years since it ended?" and watch them struggle to come up with an answer that doesn't violate their priors.
Last Spring I met a scholar who had been collecting references to ancient Greece and Rome in the Epstein files. There's a lot there and I invited them to write it up for Pharos. Content warnings apply. pharos.vassarspaces.net/2026/07/27/j...

Israel's fault? The conspiracy theory surrounding Spain's Ceuta border crossings
About 60,000 migrants crossing into Spain's North African enclave of Ceuta triggered conspiracy theories from across the political spectrum: Israel and the United States unleashed them in a bid to pun...

French revolution discourse on here made so much sense to me once I realized you're sometimes discussing the french revolution and sometimes having a weird proxy argument that Lenin did nothing wrong.
It's just "Great Replacement Theory" a very common far-right conspiracy theory. Even Elon Musk posts about it all the time. The far-left just replaces "Jews" with "Israel" to pretend that they aren't exactly the same as the far-right antisemites whose ideology they copied.
Both the Nazi regime and the Soviet regime are such easy tests. "Do you think a regime predicated on the goal mostly of murdering huge numbers of people was bad?" "Do you think a regime that claimed to be for the working man but mostly sent them into frozen prison camps was bad?" Not hard.

The last two or three times I've been to business meetings in Germany I have told my clients "be careful, because whatever has gone wrong with Britain it started with the trains"
My initial view of German trains is they aren't just bad, but utterly catastrophic, sweeping cancellations far in excess of any reasonable system, and everyone just shrugging that this is normal. As a symbol of a fading economic giant it is perfect.
