“The rule is also notable for what it cites as justification. The preamble relies heavily on Heritage Foundation reports, partisan Senate committee documents, and White House fact sheets, rather than independent scientific or administrative assessments.”

I’m looking for an automated way to read others’s scientific data without giving credit or acknowledgement, and also claim full credit for insights from it. And I want it to have a fitting name OAI: say no more

As a recipient of federal grants from #NIH (for now! 😭) that funds research in my lab, I'd like to sincerely thank American taxpayers on #TaxDay for investing in scientific research that lays the foundation for medical and technological innovation in this country and keeps us ALL safe and healthy

I want the second half of my career to matter. I waffle between "steely resolve to stay & help rebuild US science infrastructure (but at the cost of my indiv research elagenda)" vs "leaving so that I achieve meaningful translation of my efforts (but at the cost of multiple next generations)" Wtf

This isn’t a “could face” situation. It’s a “are facing” situation. And brain drain will continue to happen as long as we undermine science in the US. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/04/b...

When someone says „Scientists do not want you to know“ you can dismiss everything from there on. Scientists want you to know. They are desperate that you know. They can’t shut up about what they found out and want you to know.

I'm always worried I'll get penalized for this approach (cuz hello bias!) and it does not come naturally to me (cuz hello training!) but if I want my lab to stay funded, it looks like I consciously need to change the way I write my grants

I was recently promoted to Associate Professor. I’m so grateful and I also wanted to tell the truth behind what people call “effortless” success. I wrote about infertility, fostering, work as coping, and choosing differently in this next chapter Full story: destenienock5.wixsite.com/destenienock...

On Becoming an Associate Professor (And Telling the Truth About How I Got Here)

February 13, 2026By: Destenie NockWhen people found out I was promoted to Associate Professor, the response was generous and kind. A lot of people said some version of: “Of course. You publish so much...

"In this cohort study..., heightened cumulative lifespan stress and elevated inflammation were associated with shorter survival among Black participants, suggesting these pathways may represent plausible mechanisms mediating racial disparities in mortality among Black and White US individuals."
