I transitioned late in life (late 30s). But y'know, I never thought that it was too late for me to transition. That just never occurred to me. Probably because I wasn't sure that I was trans under after I transitioned. I never had all those years of anguish knowingly living as the wrong gender.
I cannot emphasize how much of a non-issue this is. I use the women's. Doctors ask when my last period was. Airport security looks back up at me when I hand them my passport. I have navigated life smoothly as a woman for years, and I am only endangered by the ideological fixations on denying that.

Being trans, transitioning, has brought me more joy than I thought possible. When I started on estrogen, I couldn't believe how good I felt. I didn't realise it was possible to feel that good.

And the answer is true joy. That's what you get out of it. Unless you face yourself, fully and completely, and know who you are, you will never find true joy.
I don’t care if you like its cultural output. The BBC has been a major player in the immiseration of this country, in the persecution of trans people, immigrants, muslims, travellers and disabled people, in the spread of dangerous rhetoric about climate change and vaccines. It must be dismantled.

I'm advocating strategic daring allied to tactical prudence. Individual adventurism will fail . Collective action will keep allies on side.
I'm definitely becoming one of those middle aged women. I just reply to people's social media posts with simple things like "that's cool!" or "congrats!". 😳🫣😅 I want them to know that I'm thinking of them!

Squishiness on trans rights is a dealbreaker for me because (a) it’s a straightforward issue of personal freedom and bodily autonomy much like abortion, and (b) the right is obviously coming after us cis gays next.

Und sowas ist auch der Grund, warum viele trans Menschen und viele queere Menschen allgemein erstmal misstrauisch sind, wenn große Institutionen sagen, dass sie uns unterstützen. Wir haben einfach schon zu oft erlebt, dass wir fallen gelassen werden, sobald es für die Institution unangenehm wird. 🤷♀️
