I watched Generation Kill a while back (an HBO series based on a reporter's book about being embedded during the invasion of Iraq), and it's pretty good; something I really appreciated about it is the portrayal of the misogyny against female soldiers.

simultaneously true that athletic scholarship is a fantasy for almost everyone AND if you are competitive for a scholarship, the likelihood you lose out to a trans athlete is also essentially zero, given both the number of scholarships per year (~200k) and total trans athletes (max in the 100s)

I still consider myself a novice writer of fiction in many ways, but as I practice I find that the central learning of plotting a story is always that you've already planted the end in the middle, or even the beginning.

Well, today, after *years* of work, the combined resources of the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches (as well as the media) came together to prevent some girls in Idaho from playing high school softball.
We don’t get here without the unrestrained transphobia of outlets like The Atlantic and The New York Times or the utter failure of messaging from the Democratic Party. The liberal establishment kicked trans people to the curb and looked away as the bus ran us over.
have realized (belatedly) that one reason new people in RPGs are often surprised at the lack of things like full-time jobs or internships or rigorous training is because the quality of game being made by “random untrained people doing their best between day job shifts” is in fact outrageously high
