went on a date. we were talking about books. they were kind of breathlessly like “would you consider reading something dystopian?” And was SHOCKED when I said yes. also was weirded out by the idea of reading sad things at all. Someone who is absolutely not going to match my freak….

Google Maps has now capitulated to Donald Trump and changed the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America. Apple Maps still uses the correct name.

I love her but I wish people wouldn't say there will never be another like her. She put in the work to enable hope, charity, and success in others every day & would want us to believe that a future of generosity & kindness is still deserved & possible even if she's gone now. We can all enable it.
I was just talking to a friend today about Dolly Parton's Imagination Library - new books every month, totally for free, for kids ages 1-5. My son was part of the program - this is a copy of the letter that came with his last book, right after his 5th birthday.
Here's the official announcement of Parton's passing from her reps, along with the request that in lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library at www.imaginationlibrary.com
Dolly Parton, among a thousand other amazing things she did in her life, gifted over 330 million books to kids through her Imagination Library program. Her passing is a tremendous loss to the world, but you can support the program today to keep it going imaginationlibrary.com

out it goes: my long post about Rachel Hope Cleves's claim that Tillie Walden plagiarised her book. It's long because Cleves's claim is much, much more bizarre than it looked on first reading. I'm not going to bury the lede here. Cleves's claim does not hold up. buttondown.com/thene/archiv...
i am working on a very, very long blog post that could really have fit into a skeet: When someone posts that "this website/journal article/etc proves my dramatic claim!!!" and then does not link to the website, journal article, etc, it is because it does not in fact prove their dramatic claim.
Thinking about a conversation with a coworker where they confirmed my pronouns, I made a comment like well I like she/they but almost no one ever they/thems me and they were like oh then I’ll always they/them you and then 2 minutes later used she when talking about me on the radio
