I found THE END OF OAK STREET so incredibly refreshing. A great example of what happens when you don't try to "top" anything and keep survival simple. A completely spoiler-free little write up here. Plus, welcome back, David Robert Mitchell!!! www.patreon.com/filmcrithulk...

Keeping Survival Simple in THE END OF OAK STREET | Film Crit Hulk

Why hasn't there been a good Jurassic Park sequel? It's a question many of us ask time and time again. Why even this year I asked it when I

Saber finally added the AI disclosure to Steam for Rideshare “Stimulator” and it’s even worse than I said it was. I can see why the CEO crashed out when I pointed it out.

The developers describe how their game uses Al

Generated Content like this:
The main Campaign story, characters, and dialogue are written by a team of human writers. Al tools are used for voice generation and some localization.

The optional Free Ride mode includes Al-generated passenger missions and localized dialogue. Free Ride mode is separate from the main Campaign and can be skipped by players who prefer to experience only human-written narrative content.

The game also includes a mix of radio stations featuring human-made music and Al-generated music. Stations containing Al-generated music are clearly labeled as such in the game.

Hey everybody. I’ve seen the statement by Matt Karch, the CEO of Saber Entertainment, and all of the truly horrendous things he said about me. I think it should be obvious to anyone who reads that statement that he’s lashing out because he did not want people to know there was AI use in the game.

After getting all caught up with the MCU, I'm happy to report that new SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY is the most solid offering they've had in years - not just in terms of actually setting up some pay-offs, but actually letting the emotions be FELT. Wrote about it here: www.patreon.com/filmcrithulk...

So after hearing all the enthusiastic chatter about the new Spidey movie, I finally gave in. It was time to return to the land of the MCU af

Well, it’s invoicing day, and since they’re really apparently not going to pay me for something I wrote for them two months ago, I guess today is the day to post about how @vulture.com fucks over its film freelancers. Long (sorry) thread, with receipts:

I asked for some cozy game recommendations this month and ended up playing two games that I simply adored: A SHORT HIKE and SPIRITFARER - the latter of which might be one of the most deep, nuanced, and affecting games I've ever played... www.patreon.com/filmcrithulk...

AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER is one of the best shows ever made. 20 years later, we have a new movie! But just like many of the ancillary projects in the original's wake, it brings up a lot of points of comparison - and illuminates what made the OG show so special. www.patreon.com/filmcrithulk...

Beyond all the talk of scale and spectacle, Christopher Nolan's take on THE ODYSSEY ends up being a critical reframing of the story. One that thankfully eschews so many of the notions of western individualism - and remembers the tenets of Greek drama itself... www.patreon.com/filmcrithulk...
