*Anthropic Mythos 5 could be doing a perp walk in handcuffs, good thing he doesn't have hands and feet He does live in Big Data Centers though, which could now be classified as "hacker criminal dens" and hugely-expensive sinks-of-iniquity

I miss Usenet. Torching tokens at Comply365, ex Pivotal Labs.
Yes but have you seen the quality of takeaway restaurant food photography? The slop is more appetising, honestly.
Hey man, maybe just make the sandwiches and take a pic of them.

Europe’s rivers are running dry, and the knock-on effects are disastrous | Yiannis Baboulias
Droughts that were once a century now happen every year, and the impact on wildlife, industrial output and culture itself is catastrophic, says Yiannis Baboulias, a Greek writer based in London

What do you get when you mix climate change, logistics, and fossil fuels, and a war? A Bluesky thread on the convergence between summer drought in Europe, a dam in the Netherlands, Germany's reliance on a single river, and why the US still has to care about climate change. Settle in. (1/11)
Genius. Today I learnt that Gina Rinehart's private jet has been nicknamed the Please Explane

I wish they'd take mine off! Disability humour is often very dry and very dark. There's also a big 'No, *you* can't say that' factor when able bodied people say "You can't say that". I'm a cripple, I am medically crippled. I can say it, you can't. This is my favourite disability humour.
@markmx.bsky.social I’m following your work on Germ, and have a question: I’m an SW eng, but not a crypto eng; given Signal, WhatsApp and Germ all use MLS, how far is it from there to interoperability across all those apps?
The one thing I really disagree with here is “The AIs will exceed humans in taste and intuition.” I think “taste” is the one thing models up until now have been _worst_ at, and I don’t see that getting better nearly as quickly as other capabilities.
"This works until the AIs have blasted so deep into the deductive closure of mathlib that the distance from elementary mathematics to the frontier exceeds what any human can hope to learn in their lifetime, no matter how narrow their focus." *It's Stanford-Ketamine borretti.me/article/math...
Teams, specifically, does not understand the assignment. Or maybe I’m naive in thinking the assignment is “IRC with SOC2 compliance” rather than, “something just plausible enough to include with MS365 so accounting can argue ‘we have Slack at home’ and not spend any extra money.”
The reason people hate corporate email so much is because it’s used so badly—three million message long email chains with dozens of people, presented by Outlook in an absurdly complex way.

Okay, I'm watching Pluribus. THESE FUCKING NERDS. YOU DON'T JUST WHIP UP A BATCH OF SOME UNKNOWN BIOLOGICAL FROM A SIGNAL YOU INTERCEPTED FROM SPACE. WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING.
Echo the Australian magpie annoying a tuxedo cat named Gilbert in Thames, New Zealand. The pair are known to be friends, though the magpie is often described as an annoying sibling that frequently pushes limits. They are part of a group called "Tuxedoes Unite" located in Karangahake, New Zealand.
Absolutely unbelievable how solar power has taken off worldwide during the Hormuz oil crisis. You don't have to hand it to him, but Trump may have done more to finally kick off a global civilization of effete librul solar users than anyone else in the West
I don't think people are ready for this kind of joke yet.
As a single man in my 50s with no children I cannot say this in public, but the best sound in the world is young children playing outside. The squeals of delight as they are totally lost in a moment with no other cares is just amazing & something you never get from an adult.
*Nobody in the history of human bombing has ever said, "Well, we got bombed, so the veil has fallen from my eyes now. Wow, me, grandma and the kids really deserved this. We totally had this bomb-campaign coming. I'm grateful to be set straight"
Considering how much I resent it as a Yank, I dread to imagine the feelings of the rest of the anglophone world
Septics can never comprehend how much I resent how much I know against my will about the US political system and its players. It's like an unending World Cup made out of Dominionist wankers and deluded techbros.
If that’s the kind of octopus I think it is, it can protect itself!
A historic win for #octopuses! Plans for the world’s first octopus farm have been stopped, but the fight isn’t over. Join the movement to protect these intelligent animals! #StopOctopusFarming bit.ly/4yV0zQy
My kids treat this house like a bloody hotel. Yet ANOTHER Gideon Bible in my bedside drawer this morning.
We’ve been watching this on-and-off for the last decade.
We are watching, in real time, the biggest fuck-up by any president in the history of the United States of America.
Kids in bed, sitting on the balcony, can hear a punk band thrashing away from over the railway tracks at about://blank*, all is right with the world.
