The eulogies for Rod Liddle in the right wing press are so over the top I worry that they've left themselves nowhere to go for when Roy Chubby Brown dies

This recent trend of games listing their direct influences by name is deeply weird. And probably not very legally advisable! It would be very unusual for a film to do this, unless quoting a review. The *first line* of this game's store page is "The Stanley Parable with a loaded rifle."
The Ghost In The Shell (the new series) is the first show in a long time that captures that buzz of getting a new games mag through the letterbox in the '90s. I hope they can sustain this level of quality for the whole run

I was using social media in the web 1.0 era. No policy maker and few journos today have any inkling that these concepts predate corporations subverting them. Bluesky is closer to what the social web was always intended to be, Twitter/FB are the aberrations www.youtube.com/watch?v=deef...

Liddle to be celebrated

With Jeremy Clarkson you could sort of understand (not excuse) the immunity from consequences as protecting a bankable celeb. Liddle's career was purely and simply mob underlings performing fealty to Murdoch. Nobody ever bought a paper because that talentless goon's face was plastered on it
in the epic The People Vs UK Media court case of our dreams, Liddle wouldn't be Exhibit A, but he'd certainly be an exhibit. handsomely remunerated throughout his life for spraying bile across the pages of whichever sociopathic rag would pay him. nice to the right people. had the correct prejudices

I don't think they should build a data center in Brick Lane (there is a housing crisis) but some of the claims being made about what would happen if it goes ahead are bananas. "water will become a luxury commodity"
It surprised me that someone would read the room this badly and join in circling the wagons around a violent bigot with the worst people alive, but then I realised: Ben must still use Twitter.
Sad to see people posting on social media negatively about Rod Liddle, who died yesterday. If I have disagreed with you very strongly in life - and you die - I hope I'll be either silent, or kind.
Oh man. I'd completely forgotten about the BBC2W Ivor The Engine promos. All new, with Oliver Postgate and Anthony Jackson returning. They're up there with the Palin-voiced Clangers series in terms of bringing something back and it being just *right*. Here's one.

Kind of intrigued by the reviews of Big Walk, but don't think I know anyone who likes that kind of game / is in overlapping time zones to play it
It must suck for the Avenue Q guys, their whole 'signature look' (offbrand Muppets) now being primarily associated with genAI slop (I assume they've already added a song about it. "It's not easy looking like an asshole's LinkedIn pic" or something)
I will keep bringing it back to this, because it's wild not to. British journalists are wildly right wing because they are selected by a system overwhelmingly run by wild right wingers. Their conception of normal is horrifically skewed.
The Dacre dynasty: how Britain’s rightwing press was radicalised
The long read: Paul Dacre broke new ground in selling readers an angry rightwing perspective. Today, most of Fleet Street is run by his disciples

Looking forward to hearing @channel4tv.bsky.social justify this unfathomably reckless and damaging title, let alone anything else. The journalistic equivalent of throwing a hornet's nest into an A&E ward, to 'raise awareness of injuries'.
Only just found out about this For the record, you don't get multiple genetic markers and one of the most effective medications known to science with 'social constructs' Channel 4, this is, in scientific parlance, an absolute fu*king disgrace that will genuinely endanger lives #c4 #ADHD
