As I'm watching my friend's dog, I'm also watching her corn snake, who is currently trying to convince me he gets double the food as he's been given. However I know he's a lying liar who lies because I've been the one managing his feeding schedule for the last two months.

I haven't had my laptop on in days, partly because the fan is making odd noises and mostly because any time I sit down in a chair, a giant bully mix crawls into my lap and asks for a hug.

The dog I'm watching has two modes—wittle baby potato and warhorse on a rampage. The warhorse version just launched herself (all 65 lbs) off my legs several times as part of her morning zoomies. Ow.

At 2:30 pm Bakersfield CA temps had reached 101°F. That didn't stop the farm workers who are hard at work harvesting table grapes. This demanding work requires constant bending, lifting the full boxes and carefully harvesting the fruit. #WeFeedYou

Dog sitting my friend's dog is fun, but after a few days of it being just us, I've noticed my language patterns have changed to very simple terms so she can follow along. Also she told me to turn a fan on earlier because bully breeds hate the heat—she's too dang smart.

Work was *so* difficult today. My coworkers didn't say a word to me and just kinda . . stared. See??? (Joke's aside today was a wonderful day of photography and I'm tickled with how many good photos I got.) Sending a flare for the ocean creature fans. 🦀🦑 Feel free to ID! It's fun to learn.

Californians: Be wary of Health Care Sharing Ministries. They may promise to help cover medical costs, but they don't offer the same protections as Covered California plans when it matters most.

When comparing a HCSM plan with a traditional health insurance plan: Read the disclosures and member guidelines carefully. HCSMs often use language closely mimicking traditional health insurance to confuse consumers. Understand what’s excluded. HCSMs often have coverage limits or exclusions for pre-existing conditions and essential health benefits, including mental healthcare, pregnancy or maternity care, and preventive services. Consider your financial risk. Think about whether you could afford significant medical bills if they were only partially covered or not covered at all.
