Ooh shit, I've worked in multiple ships in the world mode. On a whim. Now building a squadron feature.. and it's hella epic. Perhaps,... perhaps this is going to be the craziest EA ever.. Cuz I made a boating sandbox.. and I only realized that I am gonna go buckwild on it...

Do I know anyone that has made an online multiplayer game using #playmaker ?
This is a good time to remember that Africa and South America look like a t-rex head when overlapped.
tell your friends.... best boat builder on steam.. Next target.. 500 and overwhelmingly positive... #indiedev. (I get to be proud just a little, Shipshaper is by far the best rated game I've ever made)
@sorenjohnson.bsky.social Heya- thanks again for Old world. Playing on steamdeck and late-game can be a bit crashy. No issue for me but let me know if there is any value and way to get crashdumps/logs to you people. Cheers
Do you remember the best day of your life? Here's a little story about mine at SEGAWORLD in 1996!
yes!!!! ShipShaper is released into Early Access store.steampowered.com/app/4339280/... Do spend a 8.99 on the best boat builder ever!!! Also when does this horror of having to listen to my own voice end.!! Buy now so I can retreat into the shadows again!! #indiedev #indiegame
Reminder: looking for feedback on ImDrawList improvements slated for 1.93, see post below. If you make extensive use of draw primitives and/or have dealt with careful positioning, pixel-perfect shapes, etc trying this in your project and reporting would be nice!
Request for feedback for upcoming ImDrawList rework! On April 10 @mikkomononen.bsky.social showed up to "fix a missing pixel", and he/we ended up spending a long time fixing/cleaning/improving many aspects + long last issues of ImDrawList. w/ new pretty Wiki pages! github.com/ocornut/imgu...
Help wanted: I am looking for a manufacturer of conference badge tags in Europe! I hand out stroopwafels and an accompanying STROOPWAFEL badge tag at the conferences I go to, but I often run out of tags, such as at Gamescom, and the only manufacturer I know is marcopromos who is based in the US
i'm looking for a resource with high-quality reference photos of flora, fauna, architecture, etc etc. is there a good website (subscription is fine) outside of google/pinterest? i do use flickr but i'd love something more curated and well organized.
why play Grand Theft Auto 6 when you could play Schnapsen the 200-year-old Austrian 20-card 2-player duel of skill 🤔
Sometimes one needs to get out and touch rock - went seacliff trad-climbing (with instructor) on the West coast of Ireland. Easy enough routes - more intimidating above the lapping waves and needing to rely on self-placed protection. 10/10 would recommend. #Ireland #tradclimbing #climbing
The first ever AI Summit at Gamescom Dev hosted by @conference.aiandgames.com was a huge success. Really appreciate the trust placed in us to run two tracks on AI that will appeal to the audience. Good content and people is paramount! Next stop: AI and Games Conference in November!
Quick quesition- If you make art for video games (AAA, indie, hobby, or whatever), how comfortable are you with source control like Perforce, Plastic, or Git? What parts scare or confuse you? Also, if you do other things besides art, but source control is still scary, your feedback also welcome!
If you're going to #gamescom and you are: - work in build servers - work in test automation - are excited about how to use engineering to improve quality Then I've got the mixer for you! Come have some drinks, sponsored by BespokeCI, and trade stories with industry pros. luma.com/ges2v38b

"But the game business has changed and it’s just not as much fun for me anymore" is the full quote. He's right. The game business has changed a lot and no one outside of the C-suite is having as much fun as they used to. The business is chewing up the less and more experienced alike.

anyone with experience with Bakery willing to help me figure out how to properly bake a lightmap on an object that'll get swapped into the scene later in place of another?
sorry i'm late they released an update to my main quest line

I had such a fun time with @lewispackwood.bsky.social on this. Best quote I forgot about: "I don't love the things most people love, but there's enough weirdos like me out there that love exactly what I love" Things that make the world bearable ;) #gamedev

Nightshift Galaxy Proof-of-Life, haha. Working on a new heads-up-display that's a bit more stylish, and has a speedometer to help with some movements changes I've been making (higher top-speed with a custom acceleration curve, gravity-assisted descent, etc).
Well well well - it seems today my skills from dabbling in Java 2EE programming finally pay off. WHO IS LAUGHING NOW? #eclipse
In other news, Linux support is coming along nicely and the Closed Beta will most likely start in Q3 2026. Reach out if you are interested!
Is there any Tool Designer, who works at a company and does that job for a living, and also that I have met, who is going to Gamescom Dev? If so, please let me know! I'd like to talk with you asap
People know that I care about performance, especially since we've almost collectively forgotten how fast our machines actually are (except for a few people that *do* care - you know who you are). This now sits at 720ms in a master build. Thread with optimizations:
Loading all 1.6GB of current assets (textures & meshes) in 570ms on my 10-year old machine (with a 2080 Ti) using IOCP and unbuffered async reads. Happy for now with this! Final optimization for deployment: loading from a single compressed archive instead of N files.

does anyone know of any editor type apps (in any domain) that do something interesting for the case of 'show me the properties of some clicked object?'. ye olde 'inspector pane on the side of the screen' is the default, but are there cuter ways? a popup window over the object itself, obviously... hm
Anybody have any very large photos or textures, e.g. 4K x 4K or 8K x 8K, in lossless format (e.g. PNG) that I can use for testing a library? RGB or RGBA 8-bit-per-channel preferred. E.g. MetaHuman textures etc. I'll delete when done testing unless you tell me it's publically shareable.
