I do think that it’s super important to acknowledge that the entire democratic establishment is *already* behind AES as of this morning and to the extent anybody isn’t, it’s the people that annoy you on the internet and it is *them* who are out of step with the Democratic Party.

on the one hand I'm pretty concerned about whatever noxious shit a tucker campaign would spew into our political discourse, but on the other hand this may get the girls fighting for a bit
Joe Kent says that he and other anti-Donald Trump MAGA figures have formed a new movement. They want Tucker Carlson to run for the presidency in 2028. www.wired.com/story/maga-i...
completely coincidentally these two guys are the only pundits in American media
Overheard guy 1: "Both parties have now been captured by their extremists." Overheard guy 2: "That's a ridiculous thing to say. Both parties are exactly the same."
Dread it. Run from it. Gender arrives all the same.
"Whether we like it or not, the future of jobs lies in largely non-traded, labour absorbing activities such as retail, food services, hospitality, care and other personal services. The Left cannot evade this reality."

This is a natural offshoot of how abusers view and use their families and partners as direct supply for their self-image.
It’s very weird to frame this as an attack on his family when it’s coming from his family
Yeah, sorry, but some folks on here just got straight-up outrage farmed by the Verge. This is fine!
Good lord I wish some of you could read on this text based social media website.
Disappointed but not surprised. University leadership continue to kowtow to fascism, and for what? Have they learned nothing? I'm sure their own faculty are disgusted.
Four university presidents, "Andrew Martin at Washington University in St. Louis, Michael Crow at Arizona State University, Douglas Girod at the University of Kansas, & Ronald Daniels at the Johns Hopkins University" collaborated in the latest attack on higher ed. www.chronicle.com/liveblog/her...
It's common knowledge that one of the most dangerous times for a woman is after she leaves an abusive man. It's terrifying to then, with shared custody, let that man have access to your child. Knowing his anger and violence issues, you will do almost anything to try to keep him calm and happy.
Inducing fear of physical violence in order to dominate and control is the ideological motor for abusers. This attempt at self-exoneration is typical post-separation abuse and gaslighting.
Rep. Max Miller: "My former wife has claimed that during a custody exchange at my home that day, I assaulted her…If I had assaulted her, would she have offered to cook me dinner six days later?"
Despite what conservatives say, democratic socialism is not anti-capitalist and is certainly not communism, writes Kalman Hettleman, but is squarely within the politics of most left-of-center Democrats. It's only scary because we let Republicans paint it that way. marylandmatters.org/2026/07/31/a...

JD Vance has been quite open with the fact that Usha and the kids are less American because they are brown. Why is it wrong for AES to point that out?
The people who rant about “DEI hires” are totally cool with the fact that the Chair of the House Judiciary Committee couldn’t even pass the Bar exam.
JIM JORDAN: Blanche said it's dead. I don't know what else it takes. HUNT: Well, you're a lawyer! Don't you ever tell clients to get it in writing? Isn't that legal 101? JORDAN: I'm not a lawyer either

Wow! ICE’s airport arrests of people seemingly waiting in government immigration backlogs caught up a Fulbright scholar and public health researcher working at Johns Hopkins in their public health department. Not exactly the “worst of the worst”! Yet they threw her in detention anyway.

I'm excited to Bari Weiss to finally get the keys to the cathedral, only to find that there's not a big lever labeled "wokeness" in the control room, just a bunch of journalists doing their job that she now has to manage
“Racism is good and policy should be designed to reflect that principle,” couched in euphemism, is an acceptable opinion in the anglosphere leadership class but “racism is bad and policy should be designed to reflect that principle” is wokeness gone amok and unacceptable bsky.app/profile/okwo...
The editor in chief of The Economist referring here to the AfD’s leader as a “perfectly thoughtful person“ instead of what she truly is - a driver and enabler of German fascism - is a huge part of the problem.
Never forget.
It’s striking that Douthat has been at the NYT all these years. The right has built a closed media ecosystem on the (false) belief that legacy media is a closed ecosystem. Meanwhile, a rightwing intellectual mediocrity like Douthat kept chugging along at the Times. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/28/b...
I continue to be flabbergasted at the amount of ostensible liberal/left ppl on this site that think that a deep red senate seat staying vacant for the foreseeable future—& depriving Rs of a much needed vote before midterms—is a failure on Dems part.
Mitch McConnell isn't dead, but he is dying, and the best possible situation for Democrats is the one we have now, where he's too sick to leave the hospital but too stubborn to resign, and you should be extremely suspicious of people demanding Democrats rescue the GOP from this situation.
There is simply no ambiguity in what Elon Musk is arguing and endorsing here.
