I still don't think it'll happen, but: if the Angels really do tear it down finally, and given they've already moved Soriano / Adell / O'Hoppe and may yet move Detmers / Neto .. is this what finally changes Trout's mind?

I guess my thing with the Dodgers is that I *like* villains and don't think we should break the last serious pro sports union because one team that has real structural advantages is also smarter and trying harder than their peers. I don't like that Bob Nutting is terrible at this! That's my prob!

You do not get to do the whole "baseball is ruined" thing because the Dodgers gave up two serious prospects, one of whom is 100 years old, for a two-month rental. On this particular thing, your team literally could have done it if they wanted

I will also point out that the Dodgers trading two very good pieces with tons of control for a BorasCorp client pitcher coming off an arm injury who is going to be a free agent in three months is, purely in a vacuum, actually net positive for the *long-term* balance issue

I feel like the issue with the Dodgers getting Skubal has less to do with a need for a salary cap or anything else and more to do with it being boring. Everyone knew that’s where he’d end up. Sports are more fun when there are surprises. This is just uninspired script writing.

Yeah it stinks that AJ Preller and Dave Dombrowski are kind of viewed as punchlines in a lot of baseball circles, but they've built teams that are trying to actually win the World Series and not just have everything go write to make a brief run, and I think that's admirable.
