As a creator/publisher: I'd REALLY like for Sweet Shop to work out. Post-Amazon buyout, Comixology died on the vine. It's a non-service, at this point. Sweet Shop is run by ppl who actually give a crap about comics and want to make it easier for people to read them. So grab some ultra-cheap books!

Honestly I'd like to add you shouldn't even be following INDUSTRY standards unless you're IN the industry with a deadline that requires it. Nor pushing yourself to go above & beyond it. Set yourself w/ guidelines that suit you and account for REST, injury, holiday, and family/friends.

Matthew Dow Smith@matthewdowsmith.bsky.social · 13h ago

For the love of Kirby please do not listen to anyone who says you should be doing two finished pages of comic book art a day. It is a recipe for burnout, misery, and eventually, the destruction of your career. Industry standard is one a day, five a week. Period. Got it?

If I built an AI lab and it went rogue and deleted all student loan information, I'm betting they'd suddenly figure out how to prosecute me.

The current french student protests are a nightmare for the far right too: they proudly sing the national anthem and hold up the french flag while advocating for leftist causes, completely rejecting the fash through anti-fascist chants and excluding them Photo: Antoine Berlioz/Hans Lucas

Public Domain Art is the lifeblood of small tabletop rpgs, but it can be a nightmare trying to find the right art and license. This week, I’ve re-uploaded my old list from 2020 (with updates) of public domain websites. That's 500,000+ public domain paintings, photos, maps, and film. Link below 🔗👇

Another classic, not sure if I've already posted this one here.

Lookit. Deep down every Irish person wants to spin some yank a yarn that gets cited as fact in some factual text. We told an Irish American girl that when the Muppets was released in Ireland, Kermit the Frog was called Dermot the Frog because Cromwell’s son was a Kermit.

Tyree is about a mute son of the Moon that wasn't supposed to exist. He strikes a deal to return Death's sword to her temple in hope of winning her favor and being turned human. It is inspired by pre-hispanic mesoamerica & deals w/ themes of grief, war, trauma, and discovering yourself. #tyreecomic

I find this revolting but not because I think it's actually a threat to indie comics. Disney has been trying to muscle its way into the manga sphere for a while via Tokyopop. Is anyone even aware?

Now for a proper White Dragon miniature. This was one of my earliest painted dragon minis, and I think the first one I did with so much white and a snowy base. I ended up doing several washes trying to get it right, to mixed results. #dnd #dungeonsanddragons #minis #minipainting
