Literally no investigation done. Not even the barest attempt to gather facts.

🔴Since the beginning of 2026, the Abdorrahman Boroumand Center has documented the execution of at least 886 people in Iran, 56 of which were carried out in July alone.
Instead of increasing investment in public health, NSW Premier Chris Minns has told people to avoid going to the emergency room unless it’s “life-threatening”. Experts say the stress on the health care system was and is expected, so is the long term strategy to tell people to avoid the ED?
"In 2019, researchers estimated Australia had over 20,000 volunteer wildlife carers, each of whom spend an average of $5,300 of their own money on food and equipment annually (about $100 million in total). On average, each volunteer put in 32 hours a week."
This article is excellent. It speaks volumes about how governments take so many in the environmental and conservation sectors and communities for granted theconversation.com/australia-ha.... As H5N1 begins to spread and devastate Australian wildlife the dire consequences of this are evident.
As the RC starts looking into the protests. I started to wonder what the main Jewish lobby groups thought about the failure of states to pass stronger gun control measures in the wake of the antisemitic Bondi Terror attack. All I could find from the Australian Jewish Association was this:
the hearing block today will be an absolute head fuck. Endless weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth over Australians deciding for ourselves to stand with Palestinians against the horrific genocide of their people, the vicious destruction of their homelands.
The court’s action was in response to a petition by an animal rights group concerned about the welfare of the crocodiles. It was not based on concern for the welfare of Palestinian prisoners. (Yes, really.)

Nearly 3 years of a genocide, and this morning Israel killed a number of children and adults in Gaza yet again. The video is shared by Mosab Abu Toha (obvious trigger warning: substack.com/@mosababutoh...) Nearly 3 years of dead children, every single day
There was an interesting poll in Australia that seemed to essentially back this up. With older Australians being both more worried about antisemitism and Muslim immigration.
i'm not trying to say that. i'm saying that both real antisemitism is on the rise and that both the right wing (before you hit Nazis) and the Jewish community organizations which have rapidly turned to the right post-2025 define antisemitism exclusively as insufficient hostility to Muslims.
Just noting that as usual all the talk is about personal ambition and public perceptions. Not once is any drive to improve the lives of the Australian people mentioned
I saw The Jungle and the Sea this week. It’s overwhelmingly brilliant. As the genocide was played out on stage I kept asking myself: we know what is happening in Gaza, so why didn’t we know about Sri Lanka? Smart phones + citizen journalists make all the difference www.mtc.com.au/plays-and-ti...

An insightful thread with interesting replies.
I wish I could remember who here remarked that one of the defining features of Teals is that their leadership and voters are genuine technocratic liberals in the purest sense. They don't want member control over policy and strategy, they want someone who is the Most Qualified in charge.

Pretty exhausted by all the dumb territorial stuff from Labor and Greens fanboys about Ferguson running in Grayndler. No seat is destined or owed to any party or candidate. Oh no! Hannah might steal our supporters who we own in perpetuity TM.
i find a useful line to draw in this sort of discussion to be between “did people think this was wrong” versus “did people believe in this modern reasoning and solution”, because it’s more often the latter which is false, since the oppressed tend to dislike their own oppression

Al Jazeera’s outlets ended their collaboration with 25 journalists, photographers and contributors in Gaza. What’s the story behind this decision?
The term ‘settler-terrorist’ needs to become standard. Israelis who deliberately move to the West Bank are doing so specifically in order to drive out Palestinian people. Their ‘settlement’ is itself an act of violence. All are knowingly engaged in a state-sponsored genocide. They’re terrorists.
Via @theimeu.bsky.social: "Almost every day across the Palestinian West Bank, armed mobs of Israeli settlers brutally invade Palestinian towns, cities, and farmlands"
For those who understand how testing works, if you did not receive the #NationalAlert go to this site and let them know. 94% of mobile towers received it which is excellent, now they need to know individual receipt numbers and issues. #WorkTogether. www.ausalert.gov.au/feedback

This is the mission for which the ICC was created, and States Parties must guarantee that it is equipped to fulfil it. They must ensure Khan's dismissal doesn't become the obstacle to the ICC's pursuit of accountability in 'litmus-test situations' (Palestine & Afghanistan). 10/10
