The $30 million AIPAC wasted in Michigan, wasted trying to help Haley Stevens, could have been used to fully fund and deliver 6 million malaria nets to sub-Saharan Africa. Or, it could have fully paid for universal free school breakfasts in Mississippi, America's poorest state.
yup. unrestricted internet access is what allowed me to learn who i am, while being stuck in an environment that was extremely hostile to the idea. its also what made me who i am, in a way, and i don’t have a single regret about it either. it’s what saved me from becoming a bigoted idiot, really.

I was talking to my friends last night about how much gum and hard candy I used to consume to deal with undiagnosed autism and harmful stimming. Used to chew my fingers so badly my nails would completely fall out. 5 year period of my life where I was eating 2lbs of hard candy every 2 weeks.

I’m telling you this as a political scientist. The person who is electable is the one who is elected. This can and does change over time. Any and all speculation about “electability” is either puffery or anxiety and is often both.

Imagine if all that money went to schools in Michigan instead of attempting to sabotage the Democrats. Then again, I guess AIPAC is into bombing schools, not funding them.
No matter the margin the story is that Haley Stevens got $70M of support, more than $30M of it from a single organization, and still lost.

A child’s parents’ income is not evidence of whether the child is being well-cared-for or fed. A surprising number of kids do not have access to their parents’ plentiful resources. Means testing parents is not going to feed every kid who needs it. Just feed all the kids.

It really really really bugs me how many people simply do not understand what it means when the government tries to convict you even IF THEY FAIL TO DO IT. Do you know how many thousands of dollars in legal fees it costs? You will most likely lose your job. You might lose your home.
