The year is 2027. Some random Black American woman won the 1.5 billion dollar powerball and instituted a cascading current of material impact that allowed enough Black people to go on strike for 107 days to shift the balance of power in favor of working class folk. And oxtail is $2/lb.
the year is 2027. gas costs $83 and lettuce is at war with us. however every location on every map now says AMERICA
Some of the students love the stuff but a great number do feel trapped. Many have “smartness” as a core part of their self image & they *know* that LLMs aren’t making them smarter or more accomplished. But the insanely fierce competition makes them feel forced. Must be a horrible feeling.
At the center of my message to faculty yesterday was: 1.) We may not be adequately prepared for how angry students are about tech. 2.) They are not all angry for the same reasons. 3.) Being angry at it doesn’t mean they aren’t using it. The sense of entrapment fuels the anger.

“The Democratic Party doesn’t deserve Abrams or Black voters in the South. The continued disregard for the backbone of its voting base shows how racism has hindered Democrats’ ceiling.” @carronjphillips.bsky.social explains what Democrats missed by crossing off Atlanta as a host for the 2028 DNC.
Meta is building America's largest data center in northeast Louisiana, but the public won't know how many jobs it will create or its electricity use. This decision has raised concerns among residents of two neighboring towns with a majority Black population. https://bit.ly/4ixRyXE

Nor will it end at ethnic cleansing. A machine built to eat people will keep eating people. Those who run it will always find a new category of unwanted humans.
This is a machine to ethnically cleanse the country - and anyone who pretends otherwise is kidding themselves
The US sanctioning Autistici/Inventati (A/I Collective) who host noblogs (and 1000s of websites, blogs & mailboxes) will impact so many movements & collectives globally. Tis fucked up.

General Donovan and his political masters belong in The Hague.
Take all of the murder tweets that attribute boat strikes to Gen. Donovan (since February), and the death toll of those now exceeds 100. To be exact: 101 dead in attacks ordered by Gen. Donovan, and 227 dead since September 2, 2025.
So being pro-labor, pro-education for the poorest, pro-vaccine, and pro-LGBTQIA is a “neutral” position🤔
"At a time when no American celebrity seems immune from the country’s many divisions, Dolly Parton was a crossover icon who stayed neutral in the culture wars while still speaking her mind," writes Zachary B. Wolf. | Analysis
I don't say this to dunk. I say this because I know people whose safety I am deeply concerned about given how much we're watching wh*te men do family annihilation over and over. This isn't a "ha ha gotcha" this is a serious fucking problem we're ignoring. www.cnn.com/2026/08/25/u...

This story is completely outrageous, and legally actionable. It seems that the leadership of @historians.org was using our membership dues to suppress member advocacy in violation of AHA bylaws. If true the responsible leadership of @historians.org should resign, immediately.
The American Historical Association hired a lobbying firm to help silence member advocacy on Palestine. In this essay, Adam Rzepka covers @historians.org's relationship w/ Thorn Run Partners, its deep ethical conflicts, & the advocacy crisis AHA has thrust upon us. www.chronicle.com/article/a-sc...
Cooked up some very passable greens for myself from last week's farmers market haul. Y'all ever thrown in carrot tops? Delicious.

We are told to ignore the racism of Hegel, Kant, Locke etc because they were just "men of their time". So what do we do with the racism of current academics? Are they too just "men of their time"? What is this "time" that seems to make racists of men?
because a few people have asked, I haven’t seen any articles about it yet but here’s screenshots of the judgment:
I haven’t seen any articles yet but here is the drag queen’s (Brigette Bandit) Instagram story with the judgement, including the case number and specific district court if you’ve got access to look that up!
Texas’s drag ban was found to be unconstitutional this morning and one of the plaintiffs who brought the suit was an Austin-based drag queen who often impersonates Dolly Dolly was named in the final judgement itself and after hearing about the lawsuit, she sent that drag queen a signed guitar

Dolly Parton knew what it was like to struggle as she fought for working families her whole career. From providing free books to kids to giving working women our "9 to 5" anthem, she was an icon and an inspiration. Rest in power to our union sister. We will always love you.
I don’t think people really absorb the idea this is a racialized empire
Bessie Smith. Tina Turner. Dolly Parton. Tennessee women who walked down dirt roads to show you how to embrace and protect who you really are and not who they want you to be.
The 1992 presidential debates, for who knows what reason. All my aunts and cousins were heckling H.W.
What's the first historic event that you remember?
Dolly lead with her HEART. not her beauty, not her money or fame, and not a thick ass book from millennia ago. that's a good woman, Savannah. one of the best we'll ever have.
