I'm back from the woods, and there was no general vibe shift in the air, nor fireworks in the distance, so I assume It did not Happen.

There is no version of yourself you could become that would satisfy the people who hate you. So you might as well be who you are.
This is a good policy, but for me (ymmv!), this does not mean zero sad things. I find plenty of sad things interesting so it doesn't feel like Money For A Bad Time. But I def nope out early on places when the vibe shifts, I don't hate watch/read, and I excuse myself from paying attention to a lot.
For a while now my policy across all media has been I Don’t Want To Pay Money To Feel Bad and it’s been pretty great. Plenty of feeling bad for free/getting paid to feel bad for my job to be found elsewhere.
Can we please stop reposting those 'mugshots' of women that are like 'lady does some absurd thing that sounds cool as shit' so people are like 'let women have hobbies' which I first clocked as fake when one of them supposedly took place at the mall I worked at as a teenager it's all slop!
The name of this playlist is hilarious 😂😂😂 the songs are 🔥🔥🔥🔥
OH so THAT'S why we're talking about em dashes again today.
Yeah, Kat Tenbarge was much nicer to Jack Osbourne than I would have been, I would have just told him to go fuck himself. Also, if you're going to accuse a writer or journalist of using "AI" on the basis of em dashes, absolutely positively go fuck yourself.
So: Fuck Max Miller and reminder that abusers are everywhere and demanding accountability is the absolute moral baseline.
Another day, another reminder that about 15% of US women & 4%of men have been injured via intimate partner violence (IPV) & 30% - 60% of IPV perps also abuse children in the household. Accountability for perps + safety for those harmed. Always.
Oasis (I am absolutely counting The Masterplan and the *live albums + one standalone single): Live Forever Some Might Say I Hope, I Think, I Know Talk Tonight Sunday Morning Call Step Out* She Is Love The Importance of Being Idle Lord Don't Slow Me Down The Shock of The Lightning Round Are Way*
here’s a little game… pick a band/artist, and name your top however many songs you can do, limited to one per album
The "threepeat" is an advertising concept I remember hearing about over 25 years ago, so it is certainly not an AI only thing!
So exhausted already by the meme that the "tells" of gen AI writing are when something is structurally aping the way a decent professional writer writes, rather than when it's meaningless word salad. (You will take my em dashes, sets of three, and lack of typos from my cold, dead hands.)
Garfield. I had one of the strip collections, an early one from the early '80s, so his design wasn't quite settled yet, and I would compare it with later books I got to see how the comic changed over time.
If you’re a comics fan, what’s the earliest comic book you can remember reading? And what kind of impression did it make on you?
These men are deeply, pathologically averse to not being the smartest person in the room at any one time and refuse to admit their knowledge deficits in front of anyone, gotta stay on top
As a reminder, ai cannot have the em dash
AI CANNOT HAVE THE EM DASH I LOVE THE EM DASH
A hero whose heroism consists of killing people is uninteresting to me, and I detest the hormonal war orgies of our visual media, the mechanical slaughter of endless battalions of black-clad, yellow-toothed, red-eyed demons.
Scapegoats are emotionally cheaper than systems. Blaming the left asks nothing of you. It feels good and righteous and right. Asking whether your institutions and your party failed you requires dismantling beliefs you have spent your lifetime building. That is emotionally expensive.
I started getting followed by some "film festivals" and "writing festivals" and thought "oh, these are cool!" Then I looked a little closer. They're all part of a network that preys on writers, charging us for reviews, and feeding our stuff into slop generators. So I made a list.👋🏻🖕🏻😠
Thinking of all my Spokane friends right now. I lived there for 7 years.
Long thread by @spokanerising.com on wildfires spreading rapidly into the city of Spokane, WA. Drought and high winds have combined to weaken local defenses against fire while enabling it to spread more rapidly.
Also, I cannot stress enough: If you see "AI" being used somewhere, SAY SOMETHING. MAKE YOUR DISPLEASURE KNOWN (NICELY) I get the feeling many are using it (as screensavers, flyers, etc) because they think everyone is— or the business ppl in charge, do— let them know you despise slop, so THEY know
At the dentist today, they had a screensaver for patients to stare at... It was "AI." So I asked them to shut it off And the assistant was like, "Oh, you don't like AI?" And when I elaborated/ranted, she said, "Yeah, I hate it." Then the dentist heard us & said the same thing. NOBODY LIKES IT!!!
I would absolutely keep the name and refer to the cat as HotDog.

Both as a young busker and as a famous singer-songwriter, Hansard understood how to make people stop and listen and feel one single thing.

There was someone on here who argued that the main purpose of AI is to provide something to blame other than the humans responsible
men would rather surround themselves with people who tell them they can never be wrong than apologize
