Barney! He's a very croaky boy at the moment, which does not bode well for his desexing appointment on Friday. It's all URI and if he was a toddler I'd encourage them to cough all the gunk up, but kittens are even worse at English than toddlers are.

A mostly shadowed tabby and white kitten face. You can see one eye, half of a little pink nose, and a tiny splotch of paw. It's very Phantom Of The Opera as he cuddles on my chest.

THIS THIS THIS. So many people tell me "I don't know if I really NEED a cane..." and friends, as a Certified Disabled Person (tm), I am begging you, if you think there's ANY way it might help you even a LITTLE, try it! If it helps, keep using it! You don't even have to use it all the time!

Side note: If a walking stick or cane seems like a fun accessory, I (as a disabled person who has had to use a cane from time to time) heartily encourage you to use one! And if it at all makes your life easier, I encourage you EVEN HARDER TO KEEP USING IT.

about to get on an Amtrak train and just prepared a bunch of beets that i hand-peeled without gloves, because the vibe i want to project into the world right now is "might have actually murdered the last guy who had a phone conversation in the Quiet Car"

The sole, solitary, unitary reason the Bay Area became the center of the US startup world is because at the time today's current startup model formed, California was the only state that completely banned noncompete agreements in all forms of employment, period.

"People shouldn't have kids if they can't afford them". OK, so, even if that is true ... they do anyway. Are you going to punish the kid because of choices their parents made? Deal with the reality we have rather than your notion of what people "should" do.

One of the favorite hobbies of every religion major in my undergrad program was sitting in on the first lecture of the chair's four-semester cycle on the Bible even if we'd taken it already. They qualified under TWO gen ed requirements and every semester, they filled up with people who thought--

Ad Rock: you can disagree with the current All: POPE MCA: but if you push his buttons then you’re a All: DOPE Mike D: ordain yourself a bishop and you’re All: SCHISMATIC Ad Rock: excommunication is All: AUTOMATIC

I'm amused by how we're so starved for consequences for bad behavior that many non-Catholics are popcorning over every Vatican press release someone in a position of power has a moral compass-- even if it's not one I fully agree with-- and is holding their subordinates accountable! amazeballs!

people talk about how before the internet you just had to "be okay with not knowing things" with any immediacy and honestly i was never remotely okay with that. i spent every minute of my life pre-internet just wildly frantically trying to look up whatever random thing floated across my mind
