Some colleagues received 5 minutes notice for their online at risk meeting and had not yet received their letter informing them they were at risk. Executive staff did not bother to turn up to the meeting. This is the true face of executive leadership at the University of Dundee.

Last week The Lancet, arguably the most trusted journal in medicine, published an editiorial condemning attacks on LGBTQ+ healthcare and vigorously reaffirmed the necessity of gender-affirming care for both adults and minors. www.thelancet.com/journals/lan...

The Lancet has been net pro-trans for over a decade, but RFK Jr and DOGE seems to have been a huge wake-up call for them that they need to get openly political. I think that's going on for a lot of these institutions.
Entirely this. We tried to make this clear during our own uni's "voluntary" scheme - it was clear there were people submitting to the scheme not because they wanted to leave the job they had, but because they feared what their job would *become* after the exodus of so many valuable colleagues.
Universities across the UK are calling their redundancy programmes ‘voluntary’. In today’s Sunday Times a Senior Lecturer in Humanities completely exposes that lie.
From Will Self of all people, an absolutely clinical deconstruction of Kathleen Stock. Nice to know that some writers can see through some of the GC crowd.
"Ultimately, the gadflies don’t seem to actually understand how being a transgender athlete works. The idea that cisgender men like Enes and Royce would voluntarily undergo chemical castration to try to join the WNBA and make a minuscule rookie salary is farcical on its face."
Transgender athletes are a red herring
It's a non-problem meant to exclude people from public life.

Burnham held a COBRA meeting and decided to consider thinking about asking people who sell single-use barbecues to maybe not sell them for a little while. Meanwhile he wants to make global heating worse by drilling for yet more oil.
Horrible executives making horrible decisions without consulting or even informing staff.
My uni have just withdrawn Geography, History & Geography and Politics & Geography undergrad courses run from our Penryn campus. Terrible for Cornwall. How did the staff find out? When UCAS clearing opened at 8am 😡
No one should face exclusion or discrimination because of who they are. The Green Party stands in solidarity with the trans community and will keep fighting for equality that includes everyone.
Green-run London councils to resist new trans guidance on single-sex spaces Lambeth and Waltham Forest councils have already signalled they will resist new guidance on single-sex spaces over risk it leaves 'trans people open to discrimination' I knew there was a reason I supported the Green Party!

More on Andy Burnham’s decision not to bring in rent controls. Labour is once again abandoning its core voters in favour of wealthy corporate landlords, and its own MPs who are landlords.

It is remarkable how quickly we’ve moved from a position where “GC” beliefs were seen as fringe beliefs which were debatable if they were “worthy of respect in a democratic society” to a place where you are publicly censured if you don’t share them, and the press is absolutely complicit.
The Times, first with the news, has discovered a report from May, though they leave out how it showed the Times itself is leading in its war on trans people.
'Dundee’s is the only philosophy programme in Scotland specialising in European “continental” philosophy....The overall programme draws women at a ratio of roughly two to one over men, already far above the discipline’s national average and rising to three to one for the art and philosophy BA.' 1/3
The AI era is exactly the wrong time to be closing a philosophy programme
Dundee’s proposal comes just as a hiring spree in Silicon Valley is raising the ceiling on what a philosophy degree can lead to, says Oisín Keohane
