this might be a crazy idea but I think if we can't have a program that makes spreadsheet jobs marginally more efficient without also manufacturing csam on an industrial scale or driving people insane and convincing them they should kill their family, we shouldnt have that program
the creator of ELIZA is on record as being pretty upset by knowing how the algorithm worked (seeing as he wrote it) and knowing how he did it, yet having people talk to it convinced it's sentient. it's not! it's just an algorithm! this does not change with thousands of GPUs!
i played with ELIZA chatbots (s/o to doctor sbaisto) and sorry epstein's basilisk worshippers, all LLMs add to the equation is having enough memory and vector processing/GPUs to make ELIZA a bit more impressive of a parlor trick. its not sentient, its not that useful, it just makes digital poop
It is BECAUSE I understand how AI and LLMs work, intimately, that I have no interest in using them. Are there valid uses for LLM-adjacent technologies? Yes, but LLMs themselves are clearly a technological dead-end tech is trying to shove down our throats to recoup its oversized investment.
I literally worked on IBM's Watson and have zero interest in using LLMs for my work. Stop assuming we're all just ignorant. I know more about them than you do. I know more about them than 99% of people on this site do.

Curious where this level of scolding is when parents cut off their children for being trans or gay, which is a phenomenon that by every metric is far more prevalent.
