I used to hang out in record stores and regularly talked to this guy who'd buy LPs of really good stuff. once I asked him how the sound quality was for something I remembered him buying last time we spoke, and he told me he wouldn't ever damage the records by playing them
People who buy cards, comics, figures, etc as investment items, not things to enjoy, and therefore keep them from people who actually would enjoy them are just fandom landlords and they should be ashamed.
