do I know any data engineers or software devs who work on research tech? There will be some hires on my old team working with our research platform / financial market data pipelines / distributed compute etc. Crazy data and very cool tech where Python meets high-perf C++

Equally good day to remind people that there is such a thing as dynamic disability. This means that, if you saw someone coping one day or being able to walk a bit, doesn't mean that these abilities will be there in a couple of hours or next day. Many people experience good days and (very) bad days.
A good day to remind people that there is such thing as invisible disability. You might be looking just fine from the outside, yet you might have a flurry of impairments or vulnerabilities that need support and accommodations. People with invisible disability are less likely to be believed.
People who decide we aren’t “fun anymore” are missing out on all the joy and friendship we have to offer. They’re also denying the reality of the human condition: Disability happens to almost everyone eventually. It’s a minority group you can join at any time.
Almost everyone with chronic illness experiences this at some point. Many ableds want us to hide our disabilities. They want us to be the same as we were before because it makes things more comfortable for them. If we show them the depths of our suffering? They can’t cope.
Most of the statistical tests you learned in stats class — t-test, ANOVA, correlation — are actually special cases of a single thing: linear regression. Ch 7 of Experimentology argues that thinking in models, not tests, is more flexible and a better foundation for theory. 🧵 experimentology.io
There are so many creative people on Bluesky. 💙 I scroll along thinking I want to make that, bake that, cook that, paint that, read that, grow that, do that... There just aren't enough hours in the day. But, thank you all for the inspiration and for focusing on beautiful things.
You may have heard that allogrooming (grooming another cat) is a sign of friendship between cats. New research suggests it's not that simple! New blog post today summarizing the research: whatyourcatwants.com/are-cats-who-groom-each-other-friends Learn more!! Subscribe and never miss a post!

We really need to reframe how we talk about cats, especially from a care perspective in the veterinary & rescue world. Behaviors that people tend to label a cat “mean” for displaying come from fear, stress, or instinct. When we have empathy for cats & remove our human feelings, we do better by them.
People who confidently declare that all cats are "mean" really have no idea that they're telling on themselves for having boundary and consent issues.

Take frequent breaks to stretch and walk away for 30min or more at a time, be mindful of posture, don’t hunch over the table or death grip your tools, keep them as light in the hand as possible. Repetitive strain injury, nerve damage & arthritis will destroy you (things I wish someone had told me).
Hey artists, let's share some helpful things in the community :) 🎨 What's one tip or trick you would give a new artist in your chosen medium? (Or just in general!)

If you've ever traveled across multiple time zones, you know the pull of jet lag. For today's coding challenge, you'll calculate how many jet lag hours a traveler experiences based on where they started, which way they traveled, & how long the flight was. Check it out on the freeCodeCamp mobile app.

Can we please return to precedented times? I wish to be bored again by the news.

Don't introduce streaming until batch genuinely can't solve your problem. The operational complexity is significantly higher. When you do need it: Flink for complex processing, Kafka for the backbone.
Most data problems are batch. But when they're not, you need to know your options. Streaming is not the same as stream processing. They're related but different. www.ssp.sh/brain/strea...
Stream Processing
Opposite to batch processing, where we process data in events.

Rest is not a treat to give yourself only when you've finished everything else. Rest is a resilience strategy. Intentional rest allows us to return to life and work with more calm, better mental clarity, & higher sustained energy. Rest prevents injuries and cultivates peace. Rest makes life sweeter.
¡Gracias!
This is cool insight into someone's writing process
My colleagues often ask how I write so quickly. I dictate the first draft of everything that I write, from emails to literature reviews. This doesn’t work for everything, but when I’m starting something, talking through my ideas and having notes is very helpful for building on my initial thoughts.
Technical points- If you lose your cat- Lost Cat Detective Kim Freeman is amazing. Her book works and I can’t recommend it enough. Flyers, flyers, flyers. Paper the neighborhood. Do not give up a few days in. If you don’t have proof or good reason to suspect death, keep going. 26/e

having a good manager at work really is everything. i’ve been so fortunate to have so many incredible ones to mentor me through the years
Okay- so where I can use non local/non direct search help I need to add two more trail cams to my roster. Once he’s found they’ll be donated to the rescue I’m with I need to do three batches of flyers/posters/hand pints at $30/ each (FedEx office) If you’d like to help, let me know
Y’all- if the CDS drops a cat in your lap, please make sure to check local lost pet groups, and get them scanned for a chip. For every owner who just let them wander off, there’s a human desperately trying to get them home. Accidents happen. Cats get out. Collars get lost. Please double check.
Something to consider: Nutsy is cute. Cute cats that like to follow people often get mistaken for the Universe’s Cat Distribution System at work. Keep looking, making signs, posting in neighborhood chats and social media… every little bit helps and anyone who says differently is a walnut.
