There’s always something delightful about recognising a place you’ve been in a piece of art! I had a great day out in Enoshima just a few months ago.

Merry #Crustmas to all who celebrate! Hoping you are firmly attached to people you love, are able to scoop up large amounts of food, and can hide in an impervious shell when the social situation requires it ❤️

"Fuel duty is 1/3 lower, in real terms than when Alistair Darling was at the Treasury. Richest 1/5th of households..who drive more, own more vehicles & buy gas-guzzling SUVs...have benefited 2x as much as the poorest 1/5th." -Larry Elliott for @theguardian.com www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
A policy that benefited the richest and cost the UK £100bn: it's long past time to end the fuel duty freeze | Larry Elliott
Successive chancellors have steered clear of increasing taxes for motorists for 15 years, but this should be a no-brainer for cash-strapped Rachel Reeves, says Guardian columnist Larry Elliott

Those beautiful blue, blueberry-like things are sensory organs that detect light, like eyes.
I once had the bizarre experience of being stuffed into a little airport bus so that we could do one full loop of the plane before boarding. The Innsbruck staff insisted this was “Easyjet policy”: there should always be a bridge or a bus. Innsbruck was gorgeous enough to almost make up for it.
I hate the little airport bus with my life, I'm here to go whoosh through the sky, not to suffer through the indignity of driving around the tarmac in a shoddy vehicle

That line makes my blood boil every time. They do mean me! I have to fill out the same paperwork. I call the same Home Office phone number. There is only one environment and they made it hostile! It’s my consulate that’s full of “we’ll pay for your flights home if you just leave” flyers.
"oh but they don't mean you" - sure, yeah, because I have a job and I'm physically fit, yeah? what if I were to become one of those immigrants who has to be on the dole? what if I end up disabled for whatever reason? what if I end up having a ton of kids with another immigrant? what if? what if?

Pioneering entomologist & scientific illustrator Maria Sibylla Merian was born #OTD in 1647. In 1699 Merian set off on the first-ever purely scientific expedition to the Dutch colony of Suriname, where she documented intricate plant-insect interactions with beautiful artwork and clarity. (📸BHL)
Reminds me of this 10/10 chart I think about this a lot.

An amazing bit of news on its own, but this is also a story about how long-running programmes are critical for science. We would never know wild birds get to be 70+ if we hadn’t tagged and followed Wisdom over the decades, even though we couldn’t have known in 1956 that this would be the benefit.
Wisdom the Laysan Albatross is the oldest known wild bird and she recently laid a new egg at the Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge in Hawaii. The announcement came via the United States Fish & Wildlife Service's social media on 3 December. #Seabirds www.forbes.com/sites/amanda...
The map of London cycle parking spots (with photos!) on the website of @stolenride.bsky.social is one of the handiest things on the internet. I’m constantly surprised how many solid racks there are within 50m of where I’m going but around a corner I’d have never checked. Great stuff!
I’ve been loving #Nudivember! Spotting nudis has always been my favourite part of diving, and this is a great second-hand thrill. Something about how beautifully alien they are that makes you remember how weird and wonderful nature is every time you see one, even in photos.
I just found a few more photos of today’s #Nudivember slug. These are from the end of 2018 in the UAE. For some reason I always found these tricky to shoot - normally at the base of whip coral in a high current area. #Nudibranch #MarineLife #Inverts
