Dad who codes, loves 🐕 🌳 ⚾️ Aotearoa New Zealand

Listening to Hipkins on Starmer on RNZ this morning. I’d like to say: Keir Starmer is not a decent man. No one who oversees the removal of human rights of an already marginalised community can be categorised as such. Trans Rights are Human Rights. #nzpol 1/2

me: I've coded since I was a kid in the 90s, I have over a decade of professional experience, and AI has gotten so good it's faster for me to just generate it and review it them: RAGHRHGHGH BUT THIS STUDY ABOUT GPT-3.5 SAYS IT MAKES DEVS SLOWER

every time I or other professionals post about how we find carefully managed AI tools useful - whether journalists, historians, coders, whatever - , a bunch of people show up to insist that we must be wrong about our own workflow.

Please please please share this post. There is some bizarre magic spell on the words "pay equity" that makes people's eyes glaze over but there's nothing boring about working women being robbed of BILLIONS of dollars by the chaos coalition

Government's treatment of women in Aotearoa goes to the United Nations

One year after legislation killed existing pay equity claims and basically ended the opportunity to bring new claims, the government is being taken to the United Nations. It's a huge deal. The team ...

Solar panels + batteries + electric transport gives us the freedom to take back control of our energy and transport systems from dependence on oil supply chains stretching around the world, and stabilise the climate in the process.

MOAR TRAINS PEOPLE!!!!! If we had a functioning inter-regional train network, I could’ve spent 3.5 hours being productive doing work on the train from Hastings to Welly, than driving. I absolutely love driving but I’d also love to have the option of using that time doing other stuff 🚇 #ChooChooNZ

If you took the $4 billion budget currently proposed for the 26km Warkworth to Te Hana expressway, you could theoretically fund a massive overhaul of New Zealand's entire rail network.

Cyclists get mad that drivers are killing and injuring people and are treated as hysterical meanies Drivers throw a fit over losing 4 parking spots and are treated as people with serious concerns over how our streets should be designed

Oh FFS. Once again for those at the back - and sorry, must SHOUT 'cos obviously didn't hear last ... few hundred times ... it has been said ... THE GOVT DOES NOT HAVE HIGH DEBT. WE DON'T NEED TO SELL ASSETS. IS FICTION USED TO NARROW ARGUMENT TOWARDS "GOVT IS BAD, SO SMALLER GOVT IS BETTER".

Today from The Detail: The sale of state assets is shaping up to be an election-year battle as the country struggles to cope with rising costs and debt.

I see Shane Jones appears on far-right network that regularly platforms, & promotes Christchurch terrorist's violent extremist ideology (rebranded as 'remigration'), & amplifies the same anti-Indian racism, & xenophobia through his "butter chicken tsunami" framing. Dangerous, & disgusting. #nzpol

I see Shane Jones is telegraphing the same 'Great Replacement' narrative, & lie Christchurch terrorist used to justify massacre of 51 Muslims in March 2019. This is not political debate. This is violent extremist rhetoric fuelling racism, endangering communities, & ripping apart social cohesion.

Quote attributed to Jones notes: "Don’t let these Green dreams drive us into poverty and drive all our young people away to Australia, only for new migrants coming from the third world to replace our own children and grandchildren. That’s not putting New Zealanders first.”
