It’s fucking gross to mock Cori Bush for "the Capitol steps with her Cheez-Its." She was sleeping outside the Capitol to pressure Congress and Biden to extend the COVID eviction moratorium after it expired, protecting millions of renters from eviction. Bush herself had experienced homelessness.

The post reads: “Guess she’s back on the steps with her Cheez Its…”

Below is a photo of former U.S. Representative Cori Bush seated on stone steps during a protest.

She sits in a folding chair surrounded by blankets, bags, and snacks.

Bush wears a black hoodie and looks off to the side with a weary.

we have spent more than 5x what China has spent on AI if strategically I wanted to crush a sovereign rival, convincing them to reorient their entire economy so that all growth comes from a technological dead end - or really just does not justify the investment - it would be pretty smart

Patrick Chovanec@prchovanec.bsky.social · last mo.

I can keep two thoughts in my head at the same time: 1) that AI poses serious ethical and social questions that cannot be brushed aside in the name of "progress", and 2) that we can't simply cede leadership in AI development to China. Each can be true without invalidating the other.

“The fight isn’t left and right, it’s top & bottom”, or some variant thereof, is one of those things you have Ho say to be a good candidate because a lot of swing voters believe it, but in order to be a good politician you have to know it’s untrue

I think this is fundamentally wrong but in an interesting way I will need to write about sometime. The key is a) consumers do not choose what is produced, or how, they choose between what is produced. This is a crucial difference

Max Dubler 🏳️‍🌈@maxdubler.com · 3d ago

I think my most genuinely unpopular take is that a widely held and genuine consumer preference for cheaper, lower-quality goods, not private equity, is driving the decline in quality of consumer goods like clothing and housewares.

sorry but “this candidate prioritizes [special interest group] over voters” is a pretty normal part of political messaging, and just declaring that it’s suddenly bigoted if the interest group in question is Israel isn’t tenable.

I’ve known @jeremymoss.bsky.social for 20 years. He’s one of the finest, most dedicated public servants Michigan has ever had. This is a disgustingly, blatantly antisemitic attack by one of his primary opponents.

Yesterday the Labour Friends of Israel resurfaced from the dead and released a "new report" which urges the Andy Burnham government to not impose a comprehensive ban on trade with Israeli settlement goods and services because.......this would "become a de facto boycott of all of Israel". Oh really?

Among other steps, these parties have suggested they will act to:

1⃣Shift construction to the “settlement blocs” which will remain part of Israel in any future peace deal

2⃣Spurn annexation plans

3⃣Dismantle outposts

4⃣Launch a crackdown on settler violence. (5/14)

Q: What do the long-term solutions look like for reconciling settlements with the 2SS?

A: Land swaps and shifting Israeli economic incentives. (6/14)

First, some context.

Over 75% of settlers live near Israel’s border, and many moved for economic reasons.

Under a peace deal, mutually agreed land swaps, a principle previously accepted by 🇮🇱 and 🇵🇸 negotiators, would allow Israel to absorb the vast majority of settlers. (7/14)

As for the other 25%, in-depth studies measuring settler attitudes towards relocation and economic dependence of isolated settlements, suggest that Israel could repatriate residents through ending financial assistance to the communities. (8/14)

With a 2SS still a possibility, 🇬🇧 should adopt a pragmatic and clear-eyed approach to advancing this goal:

🏦Sanction violent extremist settlers and organisations

💬Encourage the next 🇮🇱 govt. to:

🫸 Halt expansion outside the major blocs and remove outposts

These measures will help address challenges posed by settlements. But they will also help address larger obstacles to a 2SS, helping restore the Palestinian Authority's credibility.

Any agreement will require 🇵🇸🇮🇱institutional strength and public buy-in. (10/14)

Untargeted measures, such as blanket bans on trade with settlements, will backfire politically, economically and legally.

The reason she sides with Musk is because the anti-AI porn bill doesn't make exceptions for "satire." The bill DOES allow creation of nude images via non-AI programs like Photoshop. But that's not good enough for Lorenz. She desperately needs AI slop to make NUDE "satirical" images! Apparently.

33k people are cancelling me on Threads and I’ve been trending for 2 days straight bc I said that Minnesota’s AI nudification law is bad and has serious first amendment concerns, meaning xAI is actually right to try to get it overturned: www.bedrockprinciple.com/p/minnesotas...

A very serious Rural Politico once told me "Dems have to go to farmer meetings! We gotta be where the people are!" I was in fact in a farmer meeting at that very moment! So I live-texted him the meeting. They were complaining that they want indentured workers that they don't have to pay or feed.

Lucas Tieman@lucastieman.bsky.social · 6d ago

There would be more pushback if folks left of center were more serious about outreach. But folks aren't despite the fact that our system does give disproportionate power to rural areas. But instead of taking that as the rules of the game as it exists, and actually organizing, we complain about it.
