Lotta people this weekend are gonna have a karaoke mic in their hand when they find out that Dolly was a SINGER singer and even the songs she made sound easy are very hard. Keep your head on a swivel.

I think it's bad that the Democrats' House leader is having secret chummy meetings with a guy doing a domestic ethnic cleansing operation and funding a genocide abroad, then spending his entire week going on cable news to complain about a lefty Twitch streamer who nobody knows. Sorry for offending.

Just saw Facebook antivaxxers speculating that 80-year-old Dolly Parton’s death was hastened by the COVID vaccine she helped fund the development of and received—half a decade ago—and am thinking about how the past decade spent catering to these people has been nothing but a waste of time.

people who use ai for businesses baffle me. do they not read what these produce? do they not think this is decieving customers? it makes tou look lazy and i think you deserve to fail as a business

I appreciate that Dolly Parton refused to participate in "dress respectability" and, by her own account, modeled her aesthetic after a town "tramp," who she thought was beautiful. She separated aesthetics from character and understood "classiness" to be about how you treat people, not how you dress.

Listen up bitches, this is serious. Here’s the plan for tomorrow morning. No exceptions. Everyone shows up. We’re gonna tumble out of bed. We’re gonna stumble to the kitchen. And we’re gonna pour ourselves a cup of goddamn ambition. Because we’ve got dreams they’ll never take away. Lock in.

her very existence was an indisputable reminder of how many things framed as inevitabilities were actually just someone’s choice. there actually is enough money for everything. the wealthy could fully fund literacy and public health and the arts and child welfare. they just won’t

By almost any measure Dolly embodied "the American Dream." Some people will come from nothing and make it big and consider the problem now solved. Others will remember that there are still others with nothing and use what they have to help.

In a nation where 66% want universal healthcare, "appealing to the center" means appealing to those people. In a nation where 50% want to abolish ICE, "appealing to the center" means appealing to those people. In a nation where 63% support the right to choose,"appealing to the center" means them.

Sometimes society at large rejects certain ideas because they’ve been thoroughly shown to be wrong and also because they suck and the people who espouse them suck and when someone comes around arguing those ideas should be part of some edgy modern debate we can and should shun them and move on.

Establishment Democrats are only allowed to oppose the GOP on a narrow slice of issues. For instance, only 3 companies have more annual revenue than United Healthcare and they are a major Dem donor. So Dems will never go hard on universal healthcare. This is just coordinating the kayfabe.

I guess it's kind of hard to view the dismissal of one grublike phrenologist as a major hit to free speech after major American universities have in the past year banned the use of words and eliminated entire departments in the hopes of pleasing the senile president

the amount of pain i am willing to absorb to support whatever the fuck the American negotiators were trying to accomplish is less than zero, because my extremely heavy prior is that i would oppose whatever the fuck the American negotiators were trying to accomplish if I understood what it was

On paper a trade war between the US and Canada should be much harder on the northern country. But one country’s political economy can sustain the major costs of a trade war and the other’s cannot.
