Jack Feerick@jackfeerick.bsky.social · 2d agoWhat Dolly taught us is that it is in fact possible to be wealthy beyond your wildest dreams of avarice but still be a fundamentally good person with a strong moral compass, and the only reason more rich people aren't like that is because they don't want to be.
Some people might not be aware, but it is entirely possible that without Dolly Parton we wouldn’t have had a COVID vaccine. She partly funded Moderna’s research and gave the largest individual contribution to make it all happen. Just gives you an idea of the kind of person she was.
Between this, and the children’s hospital that she funded in Knoxville, that I believe was recently named after her, although she hesitated on that for a long time because she didn’t want the recognition, she has saved countless lives.
