There's nothing quite as radicalizing as seeing others do the right thing and being beaten down for it. That's why ICE acts as a mob kidnapping squad. Your neighbors are still being quietly disappeared, but you won't react to it until it's too late. Loud today or forever quiet tomorrow.

We often mistake that soft power doesn't need to be evil itself to be used by evil. USAID could have been shifted over decades (necessary time to build infrastructure) to help build local economies up into generational equality between ourselves and the world. Ripping it away was a death sentence.

Faine Greenwood@faineg.bsky.social · yesterday

So sure, USAID was a tool of US soft power and political influence, and also, I sometimes get the sense that people saying this don’t quite comprehend the torrent of death, horror, and pain that is currently unfolding from the genuinely evil decision to suddenly destroy it.

To echo this: if you were at this petting zoo, go to your local ER and explain you had a possible rabies exposure. Untreated, a rabies exposure is 100% fatal. Like, not "maybe you'll die", it's "you will die in weeks & it will awful the whole time you're dying." Do not mess around. GO TO THE ER!

Unlike the bullshi myths that the likes of Tate and Liver King promote, humanity has been using soap (in the form of plant saponins) and water since before we could write. Bathing and grooming hygiene is prehistoric. We've known this for centuries.

men have figured out a new dating technique and it's "less personal grooming" it's a bold strategy cotton let's see if it works out for them

"some men are skipping showers before dates to embrace a new trend called "pheromone-maxxing" hoping their natural scent will make them more attractive

We keep wondering why Jon Stewart interviews assholes who have no reason to be platformed and forget that not only did Jon fall down a rabbit hole during the pandemic, but has always been a naively convenient tool for grifters to get their message out (similar to quite a few other comedians).

They'll name it after her, plaster it with Confederate Lost Cause bullshit that she didn't support, and turn her name into a curse all while stealing from the Smokies and giving to corrupt neo-plantation towns. This isn't love or respect, it's just propaganda.

*sigh* An "AI" does not "escape containment", as breathless news articles claim. It is *told to do something by its programmers*, then it *goes and does what it's been told*, then the corporation it belongs to releases a statement to drive fear-based engagement and media laps up the lie.

GEO group is being contracted to create concentration camps. ICE is just outsourcing its violent detention of lawful immigrants. States must stop allowing ICE agents and anyone they contract or deputize to work in their borders. These are all now agents of abuse, not law.

🚨HUGE: Thanks to a newly released trove of ICE contracting records, we have our clearest view yet it into how ICE will operate massive scale deportation centers and street level arrests — including mobile detention sites. More at projectsaltbox.com

The good old "the actual harms you are seeing & experiencing are a distraction from what will happen with the magical machine god (that's coming around any day now) argument." Its so interesting to see how when they see the public isn't falling for this bullshit anymore they peddle it even more.

AI systems are at risk of becoming dangerously powerful—and there may be only one way to control the technology’s development, Rogé Karma argues: theatln.tc/j3zw1Ys4 🎨: The Atlantic. Source: Getty.

Apparently I need to check for ripoff fake books when I shop on Google Play Books. I was trying to buy The Nerd Reich by Gil Duran (@gilduran.com). Easy to confuse with "Gil Durne," who coincidentally also just published a book with the same title and subject. Thanks, Sundar! 1/3

"for all the people “celebrating” this as a win “against” Meta, you’ve been fooled. Meta just cut a deal to put itself in charge of how social media works going forward. this is Meta taking a “please regulate me Daddy” approach to the government, & getting exactly what it really has been asking for"

Been on a self-defense video rabbit hole recently. Ladies, don't kick the balls. If you can't run and balls are close enough to grab, testicular torsion is a much better choice. Also, no mercy eye gouge. No fancy movements necessary, no need to concern yourself about your abuser's well-being.

Folks on Twitch, if you don't already know, you need to turn off training for GenAI. Even if you do, if someone hasn't and interacts with you, it might be a back door for them (Twitch/Amazon) to train that interaction and chat on. Go to Settings > Security and Privacy > Training for Generative AI

This is some bullshit Meta settles its case for $17billion But that is not the $200 billion sought And its over 10 years, so $1.7billion And its spread across 52 states / territories, is that $35m? And its a grant for "online safety initiatives" And no judgement of liability Its a <1% tax
