The “best” thing about genAI (the quotes are doing heavy work here) is that it’s really lowered the bar on getting into hand-made art. Literally anything you make is better than ai. There’s never been a better time to throw away your fear and start learning that craft you’ve always wanted to learn.

Then don't punish it when they actually do. This is not up for debate. Good changes, especially from a person with a genuinely wholesome track record, should be celebrated.
Lots of people replying/quoting this with jokes about dinosaurs/jurassic park/etc and it’s a good time for a favorite fun fact: all birds are literally a branch of theropod dinosaurs that split off from other theropods in the Jurassic period. They look like dinosaurs because they are dinosaurs.

Tired Art Goblin@spaceturtleart.bsky.social · 7d agoI am 7 hours in and have shelved 850 books and there are still so many goddamn books. On the other hand, this is a game where I feel like I've been playing for 20 min and I'll check the clock and somehow 2 hours have passed.
Apple charges people ~20% more than the Patreon list price and they keep the difference for themselves. They also hold the proceeds of iOS app sales for 75 days, making it impossible for creators to accurately predict earnings. They basically inserted themselves in order to rip *more* people off

I think for some people it is more comforting to believe that there is a vast conspiracy to hide the truth than that sometimes the best scientists in the world sometimes don’t know what’s happening

Then they did more research and found that it didn't show any evidence of that. Nothing we've learned since has overturned this finding.
We have a twice a year shot that makes HIV 99.9% preventable. I can’t believe we’ve seen this in my lifetime. And I can’t fucking believe that we’ve erased so, so much of this progress to just be dick swinging, war mongering assholes of the world.

You mean one of the most overworked creators in the biz uses a shortcut to keep up with his massive content backlog? Like Simon I'm not hardcore about any of this, but care is essential, and if you're publishing as much as Hank Green is, you get sloppy. We have to normalize publishing less.

AI use is not a cardinal sin. But, if you're going to use the sloppy tool, you will need full transparency, a prominent disclosure about HOW you use it. And even so, you will lose the trust of an increasing number of people who hate this shit. Weigh the tradeoffs carefully. *No, I don't use it.
