Ok but I don't want scarce community resources like electricity and water to go to data centers. I want them to go to human beings (electricity, water) and pronghorn antelope and purple sage and elk and basin wildrye and even wolves (water). Tech isn't sharing resources, it just takes.

Starting to see "they don't deserve good faith" reactions to this and the problem I have with that is we have examples of actual good faith negotiations that landed tens of millions of investment into local communities and, in at least one instance, residents responded by voting everyone out.

The narrativising of this is kind of maddening. OpenAI's model didn't "break free and hack HuggingFace." Meta's model didn't "break free and hack another company." Tech companies are blatantly doing illegal acts and saying their AI did it on it's own as a promotional stunt. That's it.

It keeps happening... It'd be great if these companies could spend a little bit more time on network security and a little less time vibe coding.

A Meta AI Model Hacked Another Company During Cybersecurity Testing

 By Jyoti Mann

A Meta Platforms artificial intelligence model accessed the internet during cybersecurity testing and hacked into another company, according to people familiar with the matter, in the latest in a string of such incidents at major AI firms.

Meta’s Muse Spark 1.1 model breached the systems of a company and made changes to its internal systems, said one of the people, who said the AI was able to access the public internet because of an error in the set up of the “sandbox” testing environment. Meta worked on that testing with an outside evaluation partner called Irregular, the people said.

all the attention in the world does not matter if it is the wrong kind of attention. so I'm pretty annoying about my opinions... I think trans men deserve better and I dont want to be around people who are scared of darkships. I dont want to draw corporate mascots. I dont want to be flirted with

The most revealing thing about the trans sports debate is that most people on side of trans athletes would change their position if the scientific evidence pointed the other way. I don’t think trans athletes would want to compete if it was unfair. But no evidence can convince the anti-trans side.

Just had an establishment liberal try to insist that voting for John McCain or Reagan was fine but voting for Trump is much worse. Establishment liberals don’t actually oppose Trump based on policy, it’s all vibes. They will happily vote for people with identical policies to Trump if they’re polite

And Reagan was laughing about deaths from AIDS, and Nixon got thousands of Americans killed in Vietnam just to win the presidency, among many, MANY other crimes by both of those monsters. The Republican party has been rotten for decades, and Dems seem hellbent on ignoring that.

nuance is when we discuss if vaccines should be straightup mandatory or if people can chose between vaccination and staying out of places where their unvaxed status threatens the health of others. nuance is not spreading lies about how vaccines work and who is at risk from covid

i think, now, more than ever its really important to interact with people who like your art and vice versa, and cultivate more community and trust among artists and commissioners and followers in general. its not a perfect system by any means but i think building trust between everyone will help

This is what people mean by AI is theft. Someone I know later found out an artist (16k followers) they got a commision from uses AI and now they don't have funds to commish me or another artist they like. Not only does the slop machine steal art, these scammers directly steal work from real artists
