A terrible day for trans people in Britain and a shameful one for the EHRC and government
Our code of practice for services, public functions and associations comes into force today. It provides practical guidance on how the Equality Act 2010 applies to services, public functions and associations. Find out more: https://ow.ly/alIf50Zwrkx
Getting through a workday without being second-guessed about whether I'm really using AI as much as I could be by people unqualified to do so? Where do I sign up?
Guys like this don’t realize that they are the freak
Even putting aside his past, this is who he is, and proudly. An endless series of puerile vindictive slop hosed into the public realm, no recognition of the humanity or dignity of others. Cruelty over social conservation. bsky.app/profile/joxl...
I just don't think any of this is particularly edifying and we should have strong boundaries within politics about abuse. And doing this stuff is just not indicative of sound judgement?
I recall we had a period of time where the response of Starmer and Cooper to concerns about these groups was ‘I like flags’
Leaders of flag-raising group Raise the Colours Oxfordshire placed trackers on highway workers’ cars to find out their home addresses, the High Court has heard. RTC then attempted to intimidate the highway staff into no longer removing flags by repeating their addresses to them.
On the tropes point, there's definitely a tendency to assume that because some tropes (e.g. Born Sexy Yesterday, Manic Pixie Dream Girl) have been named so they can be shamed *all* tropes must be like that, but they're not. www.avclub.com/christopher-...
Christopher Nolan wants some higher-quality Odyssey discourse from the peanut gallery
In a surprisingly deep new interview, Christopher Nolan identifies CinemaSins-style problems with amateur film criticism.

The only thing I can really say about Rod Liddle that hasn't already been said is that he's one of those people I've never met in person, only seen in pictures, and yet I feel like I know what his breathe smells like.
Chiron was known to be well-versed in medicine (having learned it from Apollo) making him the original Centaur for Disease Control

But I didn’t want Cadburys to taste like shite, that’s been imposed on me. Mondolez made $2.4 billion last year they could have swallowed some of the higher cocoa costs, but didn’t, and more importantly, now costs are lower, they won’t reinstate the quality will they?
I think my most genuinely unpopular take is that a widely held and genuine consumer preference for cheaper, lower-quality goods, not private equity, is driving the decline in quality of consumer goods like clothing and housewares.
I will remember Rod Liddle for the fact that the lawyer who checked my book before publication had no issue with me writing that Liddle couldn’t be a teacher because he’d have had sex with the students. Why? Because Liddle wrote it in a national magazine.
We'll remember him for "the one thing stopping me from being a teacher was that I could not remotely conceive of not trying to shag the kids" "Harriet Harman, then. Would you? I mean after a few beers obviously, not while you were sober" and "Should it really be a crime to look at child pornography"
BREAKING: Sunday Times and Sun columnist Rod Liddle has died aged 66 after a short illness
Worth posting in context as it is bang on topic.
Hey everyone, look at this fucking idiot: A History and Politics graduate who thinks he knows better than the World Health Organisation.
Bordeaux, France, has now recorded more days above 40°C in 2026 alone than during the entire 105-year period from 1920 (when observations began) to 2025. This is deeply shocking.
The Griffin Incident was just insanely derivative. Diverting enough with some nice visual touches but absolutely everything it did had been done before and it just copied that exactly #StarTrekStrangeNewWorlds

MAGA masculinity means declining to publicly criticize the man your daughter has accused of physical abuse, because doing so might prompt a senile 80-year-old man to write mean things about you.
The man beat his daughter and injured his granddaughter but he's fine with it apparently. www.notus.org/ohio/bernie-...
Saw The Odyssey tonight and whilst it was good it would have been better as a two part miniseries with the second part being him on the island with Calypso and returning to Ithaca and the first just being a series of vignettes that end with them running back to the boat.
