My photo shows a flint tool known as a laurel-leaf point. This is a bifacial flint tool, named after its symmetrical shape similar to that of a laurel leaf. It is skilfully knapped from a block of pale, translucent flint. It is 28 cm long and 1 cm thick, with edges so wafer thin they are translucent. It shows no signs of use damage. It is dated to the Solutrean period of the Upper Paleolithic. On display at the Musée d'Archéologie Nationale, Saint-Germain-en-Laye. It was found in a cache of 16 expertly crafted laurel leaf points at Volgu, a site in Rigny-sur-Arroux, Saône-et-Loire, France. Thirteen of the laurel leaf points from the Volgu cache are in the collections of the Musée Vivant Denon, Chalon-sur-Saône, France and there is also a Volgu point in the collections at the British Museum.

I’m on a small-ship Alaska cruise with my son; our boat rescued a stranded vessel last night and apparently we did that after the Coast Guard radioed Mark Zuckerberg’s yacht - which was closer - and they repeatedly refused to respond. (There was near unanimous booing when the captain announced this)

If you can afford two luxury homes in major world cities, you can handle a pied-à-terre tax without being all whiny about it. I'm not gonna worry about your "plight" too much. Pay the bill liek we all do and then move on with your privileged life.

I enjoyed the couple considering making the person with a lower income become a full-time resident of the NY property (the other one would continue to list their CT home) but my favorite was this person who didn't realize her second home in NY would count (even AI couldn't help find an exemption!)

I am going through Bram Stoker’s earliest notes on DRACULA today - they include a list of the powers and features of the Count (then named “Wampyr” before Stoker stumbled on “Dracula”), many of which are never elucidated in the book…
