This whole thread is excellent but this touches on something that I think is going to happen once the first bubble bursts — coding is already a highly mediated, formal* process, and programmers are already used to altering how they communicate intent to the machine.

so basically, the mismarketing of LLMs/diffusion models, blame for which I place mostly on Midjourney, OpenAI, and a few other companies, as general purpose knowledge/creation engines, has set back the development of these models for actual realistic, practical use cases

Folks Jack Dorsey has zero to do with Bluesky. Early on he was spouting his usual bullshit about unmoderated platforms and the users chased him off the site. (He doesn’t believe in moderation but can’t handle getting yelled at.) Not long after that he quit the board and washed his hands of the site.
