TC Nachos

I do nacho reviews on Instagram and mostly yell into the void against authoritarianism. Unfortunately have had less time for nachos recently.

Obviously she'd do far more to protect the Boundary Waters than any Republican, but god damn this is why people think that both parties are equally as beholden to corporate interests and don't vote for either. It's shameful that a DFLer in 2026 can't just say "we will protect the BWCA"

Amy Klobuchar avoids saying explicitly if she supports Walz’s executive order, which if elected governor, she would decide whether to continue or not

Looking through my mom's emails there are plenty of inane requests about how "COVID shots to be declared illegal unless you donate $5 to stop RFK." Republicans' fundraising efforts are even worse, but as the author notes we don't have to join them, especially because most $ goes to send more spam.

The fundraising texts you delete are working on someone. It’s infuriating and heartbreaking. An 85yo in Ohio gave more than double the value of his home. A 91yo in an Indianapolis senior facility gave 25K times. The DCCC/DSCC don’t just tolerate the spammers who exploit seniors. They take part.

This is absolutely insane, all of these undercover agents going into churches to surveil constitutionally protected speech. But it really says a lot about how they did all of this and found so little that violated the law. The administration was publicly shamed globally because of this resistance.

Along with surveillance of people with Anti ICE signs in Loring Park, court documents describe months of undercover agents attending events in Minneapolis (shown as described by the government):

Example: Four agents infiltrated a "Workers Assembly to Defeat ICE" and strike planning meeting on Feb. 15 at the United Labor Center. That report includes this sentence: "Attendees appeared to have a negative opinion of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey." (8)

noble and real sentiment i 100% agree with but on top of that i want to force amy to sign bills full of socialist priorities looking like she wants to dump an entire office max worth of staplers on the photographer's head. and i believe that with hard work and a little luck we can make this reality

Amy Klobuchar is frustratingly centrist but I hope people will join me in November in voting against Lisa Demuth. I want her loss to be historic. We'll all know why.

just another reminder that if you don’t like the idea of amy klobuchar as governor of Minnesota, your best course of action is to head to a swing house or senate district and get on the doors help get those caucuses so strong that Amy’s power as governor means less

I was scared of Demuth if Walz had sought a third term. She's toed the line well between the GOP establishment and Trump. She'd be able to win suburbs vs. Walz or even Flanagan if she had run for senate and made those races more 50/50. Instead she gets to lose to Klobuchar by 5 points instead of 10

Full story: @rlyrealmattblake.bsky.social on Lisa Demuth's comeback after being snubbed by the state GOP convention and President Trump.

"no one will be normal about AOC if she runs for president" is both true and a bad reason for her not to run. you could run the most milquetoast middle of the road clean cut straight white man alive and the right is still going to act like the deranged freaks they are

Don't forget to vote! If you live in Minneapolis or St. Paul and hit a down-ballot race you've done no research on, my blog has a roundup (with my recommendations but also links to info) and you can find links to all my primary season posts here: naomikritzer.com/2026/08/06/p...

This piece is good and correct, but here's the thing: So is the therapist. You have to log off. You have to touch grass. You have to ride your bike. You have to hang with your buds and talk about the local sports team. You can't make them go away but you CAN decide if they consume your life.

“I stopped talking to my therapist. I felt like I was ranting like a lunatic and he was listening politely and asking me, ‘Is the bad man in the room with you right now?’” On how 21st century fascists make you sound crazy: badfaithtimes.com/they-make-yo...

I have genuine sympathy for the St. Paul City Council Members who relied on the shoddy counsel given to them. It's a tough way to learn that, in a strong mayor system, the City Attorney's office is not a neutral and impartial advisor. A good lesson that looking outside the exec branch can be helpful

Based upon the record before it, this Court finds that the Petitioner established that the
asserted conflict and preemption issues were neither self-evident nor as clear as the City of Saint
Paul claimed. The Minnesota Supreme Court has recognized three types of state preemption:
express, conflict, and field preemption. See Jennisen v. City of Bloomington, 913 N.W.2d 456,
459-60 (Minn. 2018). The Court finds that express and field preemption do not apply to the
entirety of the Initiative, which leaves conflict preemption.
Since it appears that there are provisions of the Initiative that do not conflict with state
law nor are they preempted, that gives even greater weight in favor of Petitioners. Even if a
provision of the Initiative is later found to be preempted or in conflict with state law, which may
not occur, the entire Initiative would not necessarily be struck down. Instead, certain provisions
may be retained consistent with the severability clause.
At the end of the hearing, Petitioner stated that the City of Duluth has enacted, by
initiative, a similar ordinance to the one proposed by Petitioners and there appears to be no
lawsuits, challenges, or other legal issues with implementation of Duluth’s ordinance. This
underscores the reality that whether the Initiative conflicts or is preempted by state statute is a
complex question that, frankly, is best resolved in the ordinary course rather than a series of
sprawling hypotheticals that are not tethered to an actual conflict and/or damages.

Safe Home Saint Paul beat the City of St. Paul. A judge of the Ramsey County District Court has ordered that the petition for a Right to Repair ordinance be placed on the ballot for voters
