The "centrist" think tank Third Way is looking to pay someone between $140,000 and $150,000 to spend their days trying to dig up dirt on DSA members. They're trying to sell this gig as "anti-extremism" work, which I find completely disgusting.

from job listing:

As the Director of Anti-Extremism, a typical day might include…

Assembling and updating a database of the DSA’s most extreme ideas and statements and a repository of voting records, affiliations, and issue positions to make available to allies and partners;
Leading public opinion research to identify and test the contrasts that move base voters away from these extreme candidates;
Overseeing the development of memos, talking points, rapid response materials, and other products that make the case against these extreme forces in American politics;
Promoting and marketing our research and materials to ensure they reach decisionmakers quickly, repeatedly, and at scale through a coordinated distribution infrastructure;
Recruiting and arming a group of young, diverse spokespeople to fight the DSA from a center-left perspective and assembling a broad coalition of organizational partners to make the case against extremism;
Running an earned media program to create a drumbeat of our message in op-eds, television appearances, podcasts, and traditional and digital media engagement.

I think even after the bubble bursts, we can say soberly: 1. LLMs aren't going away 2. The productivity gains will turn out to be comparable to the fax machine 3. The internet will still be ruined forever 4. Their data centers will continue to do compounding damage to the environment

One day I hope fascist artists and writers like Ezra Pound have their works truly forgotten, their only legacy being virulent hate and stupidity. She was one of many people upholding an ardent fascist monster but also arguably the most important for Pounds legacy. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/03/b...

Mary de Rachewiltz, Ezra Pound’s Daughter and Defender, Dies at 101

Sent away as a baby, she remained loyal to her famous father, translating his poetry while fighting to distinguish his literary legacy from his fascist politics.

James Talarico on Texas officially banning THC: “Texans aren’t going to stop smoking weed and eating edibles because politicians in Austin say so. We are now telling full-grown adults how to live their lives. This is the nanny state at its worst; this is big government at its worst."

That's not how it works. Those votes were Naders, not Gores. This idea that Dems are entitled to votes has never worked and isn't going to start. The DSA candidates you hate would probably agree with you about the importance of ranked-choice in all elections, though!

The left has a serious misogyny problem. It is not simply the dismissal of Lyndsey Fifield because of her work in Republican causes à la “h03s be lying” by Kyle Kulinski or Sam Seder, but the culture that the likes of Emma Vigeland and Ana Kasparian have created to make other women unsafe. 🧵

Anyone else remember that time InspiringPhilosophy weaponized the concept of forgiveness to make excuses for David Wood admitting to statutory? How the hell did we let that just happen with only a few people calling that out.

A few clarifications on my views for my followers. 1. I am an Orthodox Christian and that grounds my moral principles. 2. I believe that the Church does have a need for progress on matters of sex, gender, and Bible scholarship. 3. I believe that Black, Trans, Queer, and Immigrants’ Lives Matter. 🧵

This is exactly the problem with many men. If you don't hold your peers to account, they will continue being shitbags. Women can only do so much. We don't have the power that you do. If there are no personal consequences for their behaviour, they won't change. Boy's club/locker room shit.

You supported a racist, bloodthirsty blackwater mercenary with a nazi tattoo. You characterized it as a mistake, and claimed apropos of nothing that he had changed. Take accountability for yourself for god sake. Why is this so hard for you?

I'm excited to be dragged into the pit of no return by the hogs on Bluesky for believing people make mistakes and can change. The SA allegations are awful. Please crucify me.

I have edited a lot of sexual-assault-accusation articles, and this one easily clears every veracity check: contemporaneous emails with her therapist, a boyfriend who knew, a woman she warned—all before Platner ran for office. Good on Politico for nailing it, and on Jenny Racicot for speaking up.

Exclusive: Woman who dated Graham Platner says he sexually assaulted her

The Maine Democrat denied the allegations and said, “Any accusation of non-consensual behavior is categorically untrue.”

Graham Platner is a fallen idol for the compatible left. The reek of white fragility among those who refused to listen to prior criticism until a white victim spoke out — and even STILL many of them refuse to listen to her — is the stench of bigotry.
