God it would suck to be in the midair that makes it happen; people would remember you dying as the best day in a decade AND you would never get to know that you made it happen

hmm, i've about had it with the bloor street "car lanes" experiment. literally no one uses these things. how can businesses expect to survive when there's no space for customers to linger?
Happy primary day! We're officially launching Nondriver Action, a c4 that works at the intersections of transportation, housing & climate justice. Tomorrow, we'll send out questionnaires for our general election endorsements to all city and county council candidates on the ballot in WA ndaction.org
Agreed! It's all about the Hierarchy of Controls. There's a reason the top of the inverted pyramid is "Elimination."
I'm not being facetious, this is a sincere take, but after spending many many hours over the years mulling solutions to distracted drivers, I've firmly landed on not removing the distracted part but rather the driver part. We need solutions to reduce phone use driving, but also driving.

Today everyone — EVERYONE — should take a moment and read Ray Bradbury's four-page short story from 1950.
Today is the day the story There Will Come Soft Rain is set. An amazing and heartbreaking work of fiction for our modern age. Read it here:
The importance of double tracking is most obvious when another train breaks down and we get to wait our turn to single track past
if a transit pass can believe in itself this hard, you can do that thing
i'm going to chicago and pre-ordered and loaded a Ventra card to be a proper guest. friends, followers, moots. the card is valid until 2046

Plenty of other transit systems have reduced fare programs for riders who need it most. Why doesn't NJ Transit? RPA is joining @tstc.bsky.social and other orgs in the Fair Fares NJ campaign to call for reduced fares for low-income riders. Join us in our campaign! https://bit.ly/3Ttjz8l
NJ Transit offers discounts, but not to these riders. That needs to change, groups say.
A newly formed coalition wants NJ Transit to offer reduced fares to its poorest riders, similar to what 18 other transit systems now do, including those in NYC and Philly.

i bring a sort of ‘i fear neither pain nor death’ energy to the pedestrian/driver interaction that drivers don’t really like
this is my new belief system btw i’m going chud but from an unexpected angle. ‘driving is soy’
you know what i fear? abandonment. good luck getting any mileage outta that one from the safety of your fruity lil death machine
Yes, the number is zero.
This New Jersey City Has Now Gone 9 Years Without A Traffic Death
Other cities have been trying to replicate Hoboken's Vision Zero traffic safety plan. Will they?

But is the number of acceptable deaths zero? Because now trucks are out. So no deliveries. Buses gone. Subways too. E-bikes also. So are we getting rid of all of them as part of your war on cars?

Cities with above ground electric utilities are my passion For the second time in two months the power is out because a tree snapped and ripped down the wires
I hate hearing my parents fight. [Newark light rail is honking at someone]
Gov @mikiesherrill.bsky.social @njsenatedemocrats.bsky.social @njassemblydems.bsky.social what are you guys doing to keep us safe from dangerous drivers? What are you doing about drivers who evade PA and Turnpike tolls? Really doesn’t seem fair that people pay their fair share & others don’t have to
Streetsblog analyzed a month of Port Authority lawsuits against toll evaders and found multiple drivers who endanger city residents.

As expected, New Jersey's draconian e-bike laws are biting in a totally negative way Jason Fenton, owner of Halter's Cycles, Skillman NJ explains what S4834 has done for businesses who only ever supplied in-class e-bikes, and are already under severe economic stress #bikesky #localbikeshop
get a job where you need to work as little as the Westfield Station elevator
i should be able to walk up to an active railroad, flag down a train, and climb aboard
post your worst transportation take: I actually love the mobile lounges at Dulles.
Car brained leaders and NIMBYs like to portray bike and safe streets advocates as some tiny group of extremist elites and videos like this are a good reminder of just how many of us are out there fighting for our lives.

you know the train’s going to be waiting a bit at hunter interlocking when the only engineer walks back to the bathroom
